Much rather see him as Billy Flynn in Chicago.

You know who would make a good Fiyero?
Cheyenne Jackson!
haha, you know what? He would. But he could do better, too!
Ov Vey! I'd rather not see him in it, then have to pay more money to see the show agan (as TMC said).
That being said, it is understandable why he is "mulling" it over. Kids, wife, house, bills. His CD sales would sky rocket from the girls going to see the show who don't know who he is prior to the show. But I hope there is something else out there.
True thing... Civilian. It needs to be bought; Wicked would do that.

Anybody else remember when Adam declared he would never step into a role that was already created by somebody else? Knew that one wouldn't last long.
That was said so many years ago - I hardly think it's relevant anymore. Not to mention Adam has said in the recent years that he has developed a real love for musical theater. It's easy to forget that theater wasn't really in his plan back in the day, and I completely understand how he thought he would stay on his "rock music" path instead of theater and made a statement like that. Things change. His interest in theater changed. Not hard to understand.
And for those criticizing him for contemplating playing Fiyero - he could do a lot worse than taking a role in an extremely successful show giving him a steady paycheck. It's not like he'd be signing his life away for the next 5 years - and there's not exactly a plethora of meaty roles available at the moment (or in the coming months for that matter).
Adam is overrated....Personally I think he would suck in the role and he isn't good enough for it...Anyone can Shout f's and g's...singing them is a whole different story...adam is just not a good belter

adam in not overrated!!! *cries in a corner* i think that he could do better, but i'd KILL to hear him say all the 'ozian-type' words.
*sigh*
I'm not wasting my time. Dickon and I have played this game already.

That's nice, Dick.
Ok, back to topic. Why?!?! I get the CD promo thing, but still. Is Chicago casting?

Yes COMPLETELY understandable. Doing WICKED, isn't 'dropping his standards.' I think playing Fiyero is. I guess thats a difference? That being said, if he DOES do it, i believe we will all understand why. I would rather see him in something 'meaty-er'. I think that is all agreed on. Maybe some shows coming up will have some good characters. *shrugs*

Exactly. It's not that Wicked is a show to be ashamed of doing, it's that Fiyero isn't the role to take when you want to expand your horizons and acting talents. Honest living and all, but he could honestly do better. I hope.
I think the point was... it's not like he'd be turning down another, bigger role in exchange of playing Fiyero (at least not that we know of). Sure, he's had bigger roles, but right now, is there anything else he could be doing, that's open for casting in the next 3 months?
Hmmmm. ummmm. uuuhhh.
Very good point Amasis. You are always so smart. Just a shame that THIS is the role that is available.
Someone write this man a musical!
Okay, back to rational thoughts....
"Someone write this man a musical!"
I'm on it, Emcee!! I'll get it done by Friday.

Well thank you!

I agree, Emcee and I'm not joking. I think he just needs to find something entirely new. Maybe small or off-broadway, if that's what's out there. If he is serious about the be-a-better-actor-thing then Wicked is not the way to go. How soon would we know about the Fiyero thing, anyway? When would it be announced?
They're looking at January... so probably not for a while.

A really great musical with a part for Adam still has time to come out of the woodwork.
Does it?
Well, who knows... be-a-better-actor-thing may need to be balanced with saving-up-for-kids-education thing or something. Then again, perhaps he has a lifelong dream to be strutting around a stage on tight white pants...
edit: did I type 'on'?!?! Well, I'm gonna leave it...

HA! Isn't Frakenfurter his dream role? Never know, I suppose...

But that's black skimpy undies! Not quite the same, but I would die to see it.
I know about the whole 'gotta get a paycheck' thing... but does it HAVE to come from Wicked? *whine mode in full-force* WHYYYYYYYYY?
IS anyone else going to his Civilian CD release party at Joe's Pub on November 13?? I'll be there! SOOOO EXCITED!!!!

Those of you whining are acting like great roles pop out of thin air. So it's not the best role. Already established. Adam is not working. Adam wants to work. It may be that Adam wants to work in Wicked, we will soon find out. If so, who are the people who are fans of him to say that he shouldn't?
Seriously people, go to Barnes and Noble, read Making It on Broadway, then come back to this thread. I'll prepare myself now for when he does do it and you all love it and don't shut up about that either.
