VERY well said, Girlfriend!

Yes, Adam has established himself but let's just say he is not a 'Broadway Legend' who can just choose and pick his roles.
At the end of the day, it's a job, he has a family to feed. And come on, Fiyero is not the worst role on Broadway. Wicked is a successful show, Fiyero is a very liked character in the show (judging by the cheers at the curtain call), there are worse jobs out there! (like mine!)

And as Girlfriend said, everyone is obviously SO going to love him as Fiyero again and will keep running back. Give the guy a break.

Hey, you know what? I heard he was actually up for the part pre-Joey McIntyre. Then they went with the "name." I hope he stays with Altar Boyz, but I can't wait to see him in All Shook Up too.

IMO, Norbert did the best he could with the role of Fiyero and it still came off as underdeveloped. I can't wait for DRS. Hopefully he'll get a chance to shine. I'd be oddly curious to see Adam in the role. Fiyero's part reminds me of Radames, only it's a smaller, supporting role.

I 100% agree with GirlfriendFromCanada and anyone else on the same page. Unless Adam has a show coming up in the near future, I really don't see why he wouldn't take the part. It's money and it's a successful show and if he really is a "good" actor, he'll create some depth for the Fiyero character and yeah, let's not overlook that some critics had a problem with Aida's characters and the plot of the musical---point being, Adam did what he needed to do with the character and show, whether some of us liked him or not. And not EVERY character in a musical is going to be a hit but there's enough to Fiyero for Adam to work with. If Taye and Norbert and even to a lesser extent, Joey can do it, Adam should be no different. And it's mainly tourists who come to see Broadway shows. Some know of Adam and others don't. They don't know that his talents are being wasted and all that other stuff that hardcore theatre fans get wrapped up on. They are coming to be entertained and that's what the character does. He's shallow but goes through enough of a character development to see that there are more layers to him, which is why the majority of the audience is happy to see him survive and be with Elphaba. I only wish that Adam had done it earlier with Idina... it'd be like a mini Rent and Aida reunion all over again. But yeah, money is money and talk is cheap when you have nothing to pay the bills with.

Okay, back to topic...

Anyway, look. Of course I'd go to Wicked and be disgustingly happy if he took it. I know that he isn't working and that he probably needs to be, and if this is the way for that to happen, then so be it. Hopefully something amazing will come his way soon, though.

Pascal is a no-brainer.
When I first saw Wicked I thought Adam Pascal would be a perfect fit for Fiyero. I thought Norbert was superb, but in my opinion, Adam brings a certain cocckiness to most parts which is needed for this story. Vocally it's perfect for him (don't you think "As long as you're mine" is a CC of "Written in the Stars"?). If Adam accepts this role, Wayne Cilento will hopefully re-work "Dancing Through Life" with the signature deep-knee bends. Adam would rock this part and maybe Idina would stay on an extra week just because. Updated On: 10/13/04 at 11:37 AM

I agree, Kris. Whatever problems Wicked has, I think Norbert did a great job with what he was given, just as Adam did with Radames, and will be able to do with Fiyero, if he takes it. Again, it's a job. Even if he does have an off-Broadway offer on the table (which as far as we know it, he doesn't), telling him he should to take a lesser paying job just because we like it better is rather silly. And paulie -- "signature deep-knee bends"? He has what's considered a 'signature' dance move now??

hahaha, I've never seen him do it during a musical, but when he performs his own stuff, he does it. The bent-knee thing is universal. During "Not Me," he went all-out... I enjoyed it.

That made me laugh. A lot. Hehehe.

There are a lot of parallels between Fiyero and Radames. The love triangle with the ditzy blond (who comes around in the end to assume power and authority) and the fierce force of nature type woman. He starts out with Galinda/Amneris and moves on to Elphaba/Aida who then makes him change his ways and see things differently. Radames gets Fortune Favors the Brave to sing, Fiyero gets Dancing Through Life. Love song - Radames gets Elaborate Lives and Fiyero gets As Long As You're Mine.

Both tend to be one-dimensional characters, but depending on who's playing them, they can have a little life breathed into the portrayals. Radames/Aida end up together in another lifetime, Fiyero/Elphaba end up together in exile after her death and his transformation. Fiyero helps Elphaba with the lion cub, Radames keeps Aida from the mines to ensure her survival - these are selfless acts which allow Elphaba/Aida to be surprised and start falling for him. Both men are intrigued by the strong woman and find themselves attracted to her. The list goes on.

No one can top Norbert. He is such a special, unique talent with a killer voice. I love his quirky humor sense of humor - "You've been Galindafied" or ::swings in on rope:: "Let the green girl go." I really hope DRS showcases his talent because it's a shame to waste it. It absolutely kills me that I never got to see him as Roger in Rent.

Oh right, this was a thread about Adam. Hehe. OT: I can't wait to get Civilian. Anyhoo, I'm curious to see Adam in something other than Aida. I missed him in Cabaret. I may always consider him a singer primarily, but I'd like to see him stretch those new acting muscles on something other than Radames. I want to see how he's grown. Plus, he's hot. That is all.

Oh, and btw, I just ordered the Model Prisoner/Civilian combo pack from Sh-K-Boom, and even threw in the BARE CD too (I'd like to have a hard copy of it, not my burned copy lol). I can't wait for it to get here! Thanks for telling me its available, Emcee!

Yup. See, I pre-ordered one. Then I went to the show at Kean, and they were selling them. I couldn't leave without one. Now I have two AND Adam thinks I'm nuts.
