Got the recording a few days ago... It's pretty nifty I can't get the little 'Into the Woods' tune out of my head! Cute but too catchy for my own good...

I love this show...the score is amazing and so many of the lyrics are ingenius.

Ahh..loved that show. We did it about 2 or 3 years ago at my school and it was pretty good (for a middle school show)...even though we cut about half the show out. haha-There was no way we were going to put "Any Moment Now" in the show..lol

I didn't mean to offend anyone, Governor. I've just had people attack me for 'gushing' over a composer so since then I have tried not to do so... but because the situation calls for it...

Sondheim is awesome. I had my doubts at first because I have only seen/heard shows like Rent and Aida but this particular musical was a pleasent surprise and I can't get the songs out of my head, as I have already memorized most of them with the CD on repeat as I speak The lyrics are ingenius, and I would now like to go out and buy anything else Sondheim has worked on...

wich cast recording did you get?? orginal, new broadway, or london???

Hmmmmm I don't know. It has 'Starring Vanessa Williams and John McMartin' on the front, What does that make it? It came in a little box with a very nice book that had the synopsis/lyrics/pictures in it

And if this isn't the 'good' version, oh well. I don't have anything to compare it to at the moment and right now I am hooked by the clever lyrics more than the talent anyway...

I have the London recording, which I don't like too much. However I have seen the video of the OBC, which made me fall in love with the show (we used to watch it about five times a year in theatre class), and I saw the revival on Broadway. Kerry O'Malley rocks! She used to be my mom's student at Duke.

I recommend that when you can you check out the Original Cast recording. Vanessa Williams butchered the witch's role in the revival. Anyway, she can't compare to Bernadette Peters. The original cast was much, much better.

I enjoyed the OLC, too - but I know most people don't like it. I really like London's Jack - and the OLC also has the extra song "Our Little World".

I actually like the OLC recording. Into The Woods will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first musical (besides Annie, but I always thought of that as a movie first, i know, i know, but I was young) I really experienced. Made me love Sondheim and really got me to listen to tons of musicals. Probably the reason I'm on this board right now, so yay for ITW!!!!!
