Into the Woods

Ok, It's playing on bwayworld radio right now. I don't like it. What recording is this? I've never heard it. I guess I just really like Bernadette. I just think it sounds kinda bad. Jack's mother...too many dipthongs!!
What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!

re: Into the Woods

Ok, It's not all bad, but the witch doesn't sound very witchlike/scary. and I guess i'm just not a very big fan of jack's mother. anyway, it's the one that was released in 2002. Who was in that? Cinderella sounds good. Does anyone agree with me?

re: Into the Woods

I love the revival. Laura Benanti is Cinderella and she was wonderful.

re: Into the Woods

That would be Vanessa Williams as the Witch. And no, it is nowhere near as good as the original cast.

re: Into the Woods

Ok, good I'm not crazy. I just really like the original cast. I had never heard this recording and when it came on I was kinda shocked cause I was expecting the one I knew and I didn't really like what I heard. But yes, I do like cinderella.

Aaah... Kerry O'Malley... love her...

re: Into the Woods

I hate Into The Woods because it is by Stephen Sondheim and I don't like Stephen Sondheim. I prefer normal music. I like Vanessa Williams though. How was she in this show. Does she still look good?

re: Into the Woods

Does anyone know of Pamela Winslow?? She was the original Rapunzel and then went on to be Cinderella. Does anyone know anything of her? I saw her on stage many times in Santa Barbara. I'm curious as to what she is doing now.

Kerry O'Malley played the Baker's Wife.

re: Into the Woods

Ok, I don't know her at all. What I heard of her I liked. But I do like the original Baker's wife. What was her name?

"I don't like Stephen Sondheim. I prefer normal music."

I'm kinda having trouble comprehending the meaning of this statement.....
"One no longer loves one's insight enough once one communicates it."

The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

re: Into the Woods

that post was not meant to be mean. normal music i think of as simple melodic music that follows the traditional format blah blah blah like what we hear on the radio whereas Sondheim and classical composers do everything differently and mix things around so its "weird" but in a good way. I have friend who is a music composition major and we has a long analysis about the difference between Lloyd Webber and Sondheim. He prefers Sondheim and I, being a voice major, prefer Lloyd Webber. It makes a lot of sense but sorry if this post doesnt.

J, you as a whole do not make sense.

re: Into the Woods

Laura Benanti was incredible in that role...she was perfect...subtle and smart....and beautiful vocally and physically....took the role to new depths..

K. O'Malley was great...her part was reduced in the writing I believe....everyone seems to love Joanna Gleason...but to be honest I have never ever seen what people see in her. I dont think her performance was all that special. at least in the video.

Williams was fine...Peters wasw fine...both different.

The sets and lighting were breathtaking in the revival...in agreement that J's mother was no good. I loved this revival...

I wish...
