Is it going to get to a point that an actor can't get a glead ig on Broadway unless they are a "name" or big celebrity! This is such CRAP.

This stunt casting is getting out of control.

Sometimes stunt casting does help the show (Joey Fatone in Rent), but I think if the show needs to bring in a former boy bander, then the show should close. Now obviously Wicked doesn't need Joey McIntyre to sell tickets, so I wonder why they are bringing him in. I'd much rather see Taye Diggs back there.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt--but this role seems to need someone "hunky" and Joey McIntyre does not fit that description. I really feel sorry for all the talented actor/singers who are waiting for their big break who get passed over in favor of a "name." Now,if Justin Timberlake were taking over the role, however....I might change my tune.

Wow. The show hasn't been open a year, and they're stunt casting. Are ticket sales down? Because there should be no need for this.

They should so bring back Taye Diggs. He was amazing in the role.

Thanks,ChrisLovesShows -- he did prove himself. And before everyone starts throwing around complaints about WICKED stunt casting, take into consideration that Joe might just be really good. I know it's hard to believe - but what if they aren't stunt casting (afterall they don't need to) and Joe earned his way in because he's got a damn good voice and can act. Scary thought, huh? Jeez.

He's done theater since he was very small, and he's done theater longer than he's had a singing career.

I'm with ya everyone... pure crap. Not joey himself. I have nothing against him personally but, I have cow beef with the fact that many unemployed talented actors are out there and are probably 100 times better...just because they might not raise ticket sales, they won't get hired... Also Cusick is incredible as Fiyero... WHY not give it to him?

He did nothing for me. That's why.

I could understand, Amneris, if he wasn't talented at all. But the guy can sing and has proven himself as an actor. He's not employed at the moment - so why shouldn't he have a shot? He falls under your "unemployed actor" category. Were you offering the same argument when Idina or Kristin was cast? They are certainly more well known than someone off the street. Just because Joe had a commercial singing career doesn't mean he can't be taken seriously in the field he started out in -- theater.

Anything is better than putting these washed-up pop stars on the broadway stage. Its becoming an absolute joke for the people who actually know a lot about broadway and know that this sort of thing shouldnt be happening just to "lure" crowds in. I would MUCH rather see someone "unknown" in the public eye doing amazing performances on stage, than someone who has "claimed a spot in fame" and doesnt do justice.

i saw him in concert when I was 6, saw him in tick tick boom. While he does have a nice voice, his acting is stuck in a paperbag.
