Because I totally detest and ABHOR horror movies, especially extra-gory ones, but what I do like are all the happy, campy horror musicals like "Bat Boy," "Little Shop," and "Zombie Prom," amongst others, because of their peppy, upbeat score. I might even do a musical stage version of "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" or "Hysterical!" sometime. But from the clips I saw and the buzz I heard, this might easily pass as the scariest and goriest and grossest horror musical of all.
So I'd just like to ask you, is "Evil Dead" for me?
From what I have heard, I would say pass it by

There is no horror. Its campy and makes fun of the movies. See it.
i enjoyed it a lot and i expected not to. it reminds me a lot of Rocky Horror
It was really funny and campy. If you wanna have fun see the show!

its not scary. in my opinion. its hysterical. the songs are catchy. its extremely campy. and its a fun night of theatre. go see it.
There is nothing scary about the show. It's basically a two hour "MadTV" spoof of the movie. As long as you go in not expecting a masterpiece of musical theatre you'll have a good time.
Yeah I agree with mattnyc. Although I didn't really think the songs were very catchy for the most part. But it was funny.
You mean it is not on a par with My Fair Lady?

Go see it its amazing!!! Especially if you liked Little Shop, the music style is very similar and its hilarious! Yes its not a huge show like Les Miz or the Wicked, but if you're looking for a good time at a fantic fun show, go see Evil Dead.

I meant by all the images and stuff, it would kinda gross me out...
I seen a clip of a "damaged" face, and it kinda makes me woozy. But if it's about the score, I'll kinda take your word for it. But I'm still a little suspicious of the visuals.
In the words of Stephen Sondheim, "Even one ****-- it's my thing about blood -- well it's sick!"

oh no its not bad at all..yes there is lots of blood, but fake blood, its very cheesy and thats what makes it fun...its not horrible torture gore that you see in the Saw movies! Its just good gorey fun!

I don't like the sight of blood, real or fake.
Then this is most certainly not the show for you.
I absolutely loved it, but if you are remotely squeamish you're probably better off passing.
Then I think you just answered your own question.

I loved the show. ...but, yeah, the mouthful of blood, may not be appealing to you.
Thanks for this thread. I'm seeing this show on a field trip in a little while. At least now I know what to expect.
