I remember reading about a workshop for a revival of The Secret Garden. Havent heard anything in a while, so is it safe to assume that the production is dead?
I love the novel, but Ive never seen the musical, hence why I was really hoping for a revival!

I'd love to see a production of The Secret Garden in the near future. Of all the 'classic children's novels turned musical' scores this one is my favorite. This might be a good fit for Roundabout.

Posted: 7/10/19 at 9:41pmNot to be that person, but a producer listing a production in their folio as “upcoming” doesn’t mean a production is actually upcoming. There are still semantics like, you know, raising the money and finding a theatre that have to be dealt with first.

I asked my musical theater agent friend and he said nothing is planned for this season and a broadway revival is not happening at least for now but who knows if/when?

They should just bring in that production that played Los Angeles a couple of months ago. It looked huge and gorgeous.

Great to hear this production still has Wick. 
(yes my screen name is from the song "Wick" from Secret Garden, which was the first Broadway show I ever saw back when I was a kid in the early 90s!)

ah just read the rest of this thread and it looks like the production may indeed be dead... but I guess as long as it's on playbill there's still a sliver of hope?

The production Queen Alice refers to by 3D Theatricals was indeed quite good. It was lavishly produced and for a show that can be a little chilly, I think it was the warmest version of the material I've seen. This link below can't fully convey what it looked like, but it was on a pretty grand scale. The Mary Lennox was exceptional.

We had a great production here in DC a couple of years ago. Daisy Eagan (Mary in the OBC) played Martha in it. I'd love to see a revival on Broadway!

There's a few other threads on this, but I'm too lazy to go find them. I wouldn't say a job listing for a casting office is good source for whether a show is happening or not, but I've also heard it's "dead" for now which saddens me greatly. Funny, I JUST finished re-reading the novel last night after having not read it for a while. I forgot how poignant it is, and why I loved it to begin with. This score is such gorgeous one and one of the most under appreciated and underdone shows to ever exist. I have no idea why this particular British classic novel translates so well to being a stage musical, but others like Burnett's other famous one, A Little Princess (which I also adore to hell and back) or basically any Austen novel just don't translate well or just haven't been thought through enough to make them work. I have ideas as to why, but still can't put my finger on it.

I wouldn't put that much trust in Playbill, they still have The Bodyguard on that list, and that seems long dead. As someone who wanted the Imelda Staunton Gypsy to transfer, I feel you, but that list seems completely out of date.
