Not one but two nights at MSG?
$254.00 top price!
I always thought she had an inferiority complex when compared to Barbra, Cher or Madonna but this is just nuts...
Why in god's name an arena tour when Mariah can not sell out an arena?
Good luck...!!!

That Streisand Woman couldn't sell out Madison Square Garden either. On the day of performance they had to send a huge block of tickets to the TKTS Booth on Duffy Square just in an effort to fill a few more seats.
Yes, she is.
I honestly don't think she has the fan base she once had (many just died off, sorry to say), and she seems of late of having the knack to do EXACTLY the thing to TURN OFF fans and burn her professional bridges (Her bitching about her sitcom when it was still running, her difficulty on the STEPFORD WIVES set)...and now this. She'd be better off playing the Beacon with a very tight show, with well-priced tickets so she'd sell out and create a buzz. I love the broad, but she needs better advisors.

she seems bitter..angry that she is not given the respect she feels she deserves and she makes lives a misery for everyone involved in any project of hers..I don't think she would be so stupid as to do this to Ms. Kidman who at this point could have her fired with little to no apology...
Think about "First wives club"..
It took 20 million to make..
About 20 million to promote..
and grossed over 100 MILLION in the US ALONE!
why no sequel?
Why?
Because Hawn and Keaton REFUSE to Work with her again!
They were offered the moon and they STILL said No!!
Don't get me wrong, Live at Last is an amazing CD and some of her film work is glorious but..............

She sold out arenas on the Divine Miss Millenium tour no problem. And that was just three years ago. One thing ticket buyers know is she puts on a damn good show. She's like the Stones when it comes to that. The fans don't buy the new albums so much, but they do buy tickets to the shows. And, alas, the whole idea of charging a lot for the good seats because that's what scalpers get for them thru "ticket agencies" is hardly something she invented.
I believe that the top price tickets on her last tour were also $250 and she sold out MSG. However, I think she only had one show.
She should be playing Radio City Music Hall.
Bette will do fine. She always does. Those who love her will think nothing of shelling out the $$$. It's a bit much...but they will. Wish I weren't tied up for this one.
Who 'really' knows or cares what's she's like off stage. There's a handfull of B***ches , but people will pay to see them perform, regardless.

Voiceanth...nice picture...
I have no problem shelling out $250 to see Bette; but that's as high as I'll go.
As far as the problems on the Stepford Wives set, if you read the article in Entertaiment Weekly (which is where the problem was reported), you would know that Bette was not having trouble with the other actors; she was having trouble with the director, and the other actors were having trouble with the director too!

After the number Don Siegel and mega-superstar Ken "WiseGuy"/Skid Row Wahl pulled on her during "Jinxed," Bette gets to yell at any director she wants.
And, Anth, you seem to be criticizing Bette for the very thing you criticize others for not exhibiting: Diva behavior.

Yes, You are right namo...I should'nt complain when we are stuck with so many goddamn "Gosh, she is so nice" women out there..
but Bette irks me for some reason...I think part of it is she had that kid and she tried to present herself as Helen Hayes...this clean woman who does not to smut!
I mean, hello!
Please note: her live stuff from the 70's is TERRIFIC, INSPIRING...Awesome...
I remember her clashing with Wahl, who (if I recall) said something charming to her like "Why should I work with YOU? Only FAGS like you!" I've since followed his career with great satisfaction.
But I stand by my reports of her dissing her co-stars of and her TV show and complaining about the hours she had to keep while filming a sitcom. Being publicly ugly to the 'little people' aint smart.

The TV show was the final nail..
She made it clear she was only in it for the money and she would never have done it if she knew she had to, and i quote, "work so hard"...
a duh?
What a hard life! Sitcom star! The bricklayers of the world have nothing on you!
On top of everything, the show sucked!

The flashback episode of how she met her husband and her best friend, Joanna Gleason was one of the funniest half hours on television ever. "Connie! Isn't Diana Ross mean?"
I also believe the exact quote wasn't that she was having to work so hard, but that she had sunk so low. This is what happens when people who don't *watch* television, *do* television.
Fact is, the Seinfeld she did was also one of the best half hours on TV too.

I can not belive it's YOU defending her...I don't know ..I just never thought Bette would be an interest of yours...(LOL)(LOL)

I'm proof it's possible to love Sleatter-Kinney AND Bette Midler. Also, I don't know if you've ever had the pleasure of seeing Bette live, but unlike the gals whose "live" "concert" praises you sing, she actually doesn't lip-sync. Call her old fashioned that way.

Now you know VERY WELL that X-Tina and Madonna do not lip-sync...namo...come on...

Not only does Bette sing live, she dances while doing it!!!

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....nasty!
Madonna has vocal support issues so she can't dance like she did before...
so ooooooooooooooooooo cruel to my M!

I saw Bette at Radio City- 5th row center and it was worth the $90. I saw Liza at the Beacon for $250 Front Mezz and it was worth it. Sorry Bette I cant stand to see a concert at MSG. I like when a performer is at a broadway theatre or Radio City. Ill wait for the video.

I think FindingNamo is quite correct in his take on things here (WHAT? AM I MAD? Did I write that"???).
Actually, what I recall about her dissatisfaction with the TV show was NOT that she had to work hard. She was very vocal about having to cave to CBS' demands for the show's structure and she was very upset about having little to say about how the show was written and that it wasnt worth all the hard work she had to put in on it when it sucked so bad anyway.
But maybe I dreamed it.
Her fan base has not died off. Her fan base is nowhere NEAR having died off.
: )

Yes Ron, you did write that and either you have, in fact, gone mad or the world is not so simply divided between those who are with Guy Haines or are his (and of course by extension, YOUR and SwishySarah's and Francois's -- tho I've never met the creature) sworn enemies. The latter, of course, is impossible.
I have never heard that Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton refused to work with Bette again, but I still haven't seen a sequel...meanwhile, Hawn and Keaton did another movie ("Town and Country") together...which was just not a good movie. So, there may be some truth to them not wanting to work with her again.

I believe it was mentioned on Howard Stern ...I'm not sure by whom...
but lets face facts kids..
Choice movie roles for women in their late forties and early fifties..don't grow on trees..
you don't have to be Liz Smith to figure this one out...
When people in the biz, for some reason, DON'T want to make money, you put two and two together..
They would have stood to make millions each!
