Do you think she will? I REALLLLLY want to see her in the show and meet her. If not is it going to be near NYC soon?
I doubt it. Wish she could do a one night only concert version of Dolly...it is sure to be better than what I saw at Papermill this afternoon.
Saw her one woman show in NYC about a year ago at BB Kings on 42nd street. It was fabulous!

Papermill`s was bad? I`m going to see it soon! My friend Jonathan Rayson is in it as Cornelius!
Rayson is fabulous!
Jonathan Rayson was *fantastic* as Cornelius (as was Kate Baldwin as Irene Molloy). Overall, the show just fell flat.
I think the cast was fabulous. Just something was missing overall. The score sounded great as always. The direction and choreograhy were kind of weak.

Ah! I still have to go! I promised him!
How`s Tovah as Dolly?
Can't sing. No stage presence. Not funny. Completely miscast.
It is definitely a problem when Cornelius and Irene steal the show in Hello, Dolly!
Tovah's singing was pretty good in my opinion. She has released albums before. She can sing. Only her Act 1 Finale was vocally weak in my opinion.
I agree she could've had more stage presence.
"Can't sing. No stage presence. Not funny."
Are we talking about Tova Borgnine? Because none of those describe Tovah Feldshuh.
Maybe she was just not in full voice this afternoon, but it was painful hearing her sing "So Long Dearie," which is normally my favorite song in the show.
"Ribbons Down My Back," the beginning of "Sunday Clothes," (when Jonathan was singing), and "Motherhood March" were my favorites this time.
Edit: Rath, I was referring to Tovah. I went in with an open mind, and she just didn't do it for me (or my companion).

ok! This is all good but I HATE it when boards get off-topic! lol
I'm sorry, NLS. My fault.
I loved her SO LONG DEARIE.. because for her "Goodbyes" when the song starts, she didn't go low and manly like Channing did. She used her head voice. It worked.

Those "Goodbyes" in "So Long Dearie" were put in when Gower Champion had the idea of lowering Dolly on a swing and singing "goodbye" at each level until she reached the stage floor. She was attired in a tight bright dress for the number, too. Both the swing and the dress were scrapped in favor of the staging that we're accustomed to today.

No one had any desire to see Channing when she was slated to appear downtown (at downtown prices) in a series devoted to Broadway old-timers--why would they pay top dollar to see her now?

They would. I know they would.

Channing was the only one in the SINGULAR SENSATIONS series that DID sell out.
She may bring her show to NYC, but in a smaller venue than Broadway.
She was marvelous at Feinstein's in October.
I hear that she is coming to Melbourne. Whoo! Whoo!
Where can I find information about her one woman show? Is it playing elsewhere in the country?

Dollypop should help produce it.
I'd like to see Carol Channing box Mike Tyson live, not just televised.
