It's just an excuse to be lazy.

NOTHING on this board is THAT important.

And a spell check won't catch the your/you're (or their/they're/there) confusion. That's basic first grade stuff.

And I know it's not in here, but it happens often enough it deserves a mention. The word is cast. Someone was cast in a role. Not "casted".

TheatreDiva, you actually said "spelt" which is not a word...it is "spelled." I wouldn't have really cared if you used the wrong spelling, BUT YOU WERE CRITICIZING SOMEONE ELSE FOR THE SAME THING!!!!!

Except for the fact that spelt is a word.

No one will care if you make a typo here than there on occasion. But when every one of your posts looks like it was written by an illiterate 13 year old, people will not take you seriously.

Back to the subject at hand...

I just saw The Color Purple this past Wednesday mat.

I did not love it. The music was fun, the actors were good and the story was ok.

The thing that I hated was that the story whether it was the book, the songs, or direction was missing something. I have never seen the movie or read the book and I, though not really confused, was not connected to the story or characters.

I felt like I was flipping through the story. It was so choppy. In one scene Harpo is about 10 and in the next he is in his 20s-30s and in one scene he wanted to marry Sofia and in the next they have been married for 3 years...??? I felt like I was watching the story go by clicking "next scene" every 5 minutes.

These are just my two cents.

I just saw the national tour here in Los Angeles and I loved it. I wasn't sure if I would like it but since I have season tickets it was part of my subscription. It blew me away and I feel so fortunate to have been able to see Felicia Fields in her Tony nominated role as Sophia. See it!

I had been wanting to see it for quite some time but some other show would keep beating it out as a choice over and over.

Over the summer, I went w/my sister (NOT a theater person) over the summer and we BOTH really loved it. The Color Purple happens to be one of my favorite novels AND movies. But, sis had never seen or read.

We did see Fanatasia, and at first I was worried, but 10 or 15 minutes into it she won me over.

However, my 17 yo babysitter, went with a class trip and fell asleep. She's a bright young lady, with very little theater background.

I would reccommend it to most folks.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
