With such low numbers for their first week of previews, what are their chances? And has anyone seen any advertising for this show?
It was standing room only the other night and the audience went WILD each time a familiar song was sang. I think this show has the stuff to make it and have a nice, healthy run.

I agree. Plus, I'm fairly certain the show has healthy advance sales.
It would be very sad if this show doesn't make it. I saw it Friday night and can't stop praising it !!! The cast is phenomenal.
Isn't the % attendance for PAID admissions only though? Previews are generally papered to the hilt.

Yes, that percentage is only paid admissions. The show is being heavily papered, which is one of the main reasons why it hasn't been up on TKTS. However, it has a lot of positive buzz surrounding it, so I think it has the potential to be a hit.

A week ago,I booked online for mid November (i.e a month ahead) and could only get rear orchestra at the side. Seems to me advance sales are going pretty well at this stage. I think it will be a hit primarily because of the positive word of mouth, so it may take time to gain full momentum. Read the earlier threads here and elsewhere (and reader reviews in the New York Times). The consistent feedback is :"wow"; standing ovations;and people wanting to come back for a second show.
I for one can't wait till I can see it.
Don't pay too much attention to the percentages during previews--unless it's a pre-established hit (like Spamalot), or a really famous show (like Sweeney Todd), the numbers tend to be pretty low.
Don't pay attention to anything...just go see this show !!!

I saw a preview last night and it was GREAT!! Spread the word, this show deserves to be seen. What an enjoyable night and fantastic singing.
Looked pretty full last night, even way back into the mezz.....

When I went last Wednesday, it was on TKTS for the matinee. Not sure about the evening because we got student tix. The orchestra was pretty packed, but I didn't look up in the mezz.

Typically, shows that open slow don't recoup. 55% stinks for the first week, which means the buzz has to be good and quick to save the show from obscurity- like lennon.
Avenue Q opened slow but was in the 80s% by week 4. If Jersey Boys is not at 80 by week 4, then I would bet that it will not recoup (an thus not be a hit)
Shows are papered during previews when they can't get enough advanced buzz and sales. Successful shows don't need to paper previews.

I went to the BO a week ago and was unable to get 4 in the orchestra for the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I did get 4 in row O for the following Tuesday. It looks to be selling well. Go see it, it's great!
I was in the third row last night and the audience (and I) went wild after every big number. It is such a good show with a great story to boot.
Everyone in the cast is wonderful, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Tony nominations going to a few of the leads. They really work hard in this show and it sounds authentically great!
A definite hit.
My friend Fadoul RAVED about this show last night--he thought it was just great! I can't wait to see it!
When I saw it, I absolutely fell in love with it. Very talented cast. I was engaged during the entire show and didn't want it to end. Such wonderful tunes of the past!
i saw it the other night, alot better then the other jukebox musical. the orch. was filled but the last 2 rows. the auidence really seemed to enjoy the show sepecially for the well know songs like sherrie, walk like a man and big girls dont cry.
they even gave a half standing ovation for cant take my eyes off of you. Is the guy who plays frankie valli really singing the entire time or his voice digital enhanced.
Iy seems to have disappeared from TDF. This is a good sign
Yeah, I was waiting to see if it was going to come back onto TDF, but I just ended up buying a ticket with the $60 price.
I am positive he is singing the whole time... no digital enhancement. I was very close to the stage last night, so I think it would have been apparent otherwise.
There were a couple of times that I think he was getting a little winded from all of the falsetto singing and he backed off just a little. But he really sounded great the whole time. I hope he is able to sing like that for months to come. It must be tiring to sing constantly in a semi-strange falsetto, even though vocally, it is really healthy and not a bit straining. I'm sure it's a skill like any other.
A good jukebox musical...I'm there!! =)
Even if it was sucky, Id probably be there. I do love me some jukebox musicals however bad the majority of them are. And that's why. I love them because theyre bad. Yes, I gave GV one star on my blog, but it was just so bad it was really hard for me to say I hated it. But I came around to it...
