Posted: 8/17/09 at 1:03pmPardon my ignorance on the subject (as I'm no vocal expert), but is the role of Sherrie really THAT demanding/damaging? I mean, singing (or at times screaming) that score 8 times a week is no easy task but this thread makes it seem like it's one of the hardest roles to sing. The only song that really seems like a KILLER to sing every night would be "High Enough".

Evelyn Nesbit in Ragtime? I thought Leigh Ann Larkin was doing it. She did it in DC and I was sooo excited to see her in the role. 
If its true thats funny because when I saw ROA last week, I couldn't stop thinking about how much Savannah and Leigh Ann look alike and how I would love to see Leigh Ann as Sherrie.

Larkin is playing Petra in the revival of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, which is why she turned down the opportunity to transfer to Broadway with RAGTIME.
She was a fantastic Evelyn Nesbit in D.C., but NIGHT MUSIC is a much bigger opportunity for her.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.

Posted: 8/19/09 at 2:32pmto answer Treykenyon's question... this show is actually very vocally demanding in almost every role. I would say it's probably the most demanding show (vocally) on broadway. It is not only rock singing but this genre pushes an actor's range to the limits on both the high and low ends of their register.

Tis not an easy score to Sing my friends... & 8 shows a week?...amazing...it IS the most kickass show on Broadway! I never saw Laura Bell Bundy as Sherrie in LA. I bet she'd be great in the role on the Great Whitesnake Way...
