I was browsing the Broadwaybox website and I stumbled on their listing for King Kong. The website lists many potential future shows, but for most of them it obviously does not list a specific theatre since no theatre has been booked.
But for future shows that are not yet open, but which have announced a theatre, it does list the correct theatre. There are many examples of this on their website, Allegiance being just one.
Interestingly, for King Kong it specifically lists the Lyric/Foxwood. Is this just an error, or perhaps is King Kong going to take over the Lyric in the fall?

IIRC, a good while back, they made noise that they wanted the Lyric. Subsequently, I heard the Broadway. As things stand, I think they have more serious issues than what theatre they want.
Yes OTT is closing... at some point, but I'm sure the lunatics running that asylum won't even give it a thought until they lose the Tony. And it may take the stop clause to bring it to fruition.

Just read your post, and while I'm not really one of the "in-the-knows" of Broadway, with Dr Zhivago closing today at The Broadway, I remember early chatter going on that the producers of King Kong were eyeing The Broadway. Which as far as I know, I haven't heard of any other producers lurking around that theater to pounce on it. I guess it remains to be seen if the Tony noms that Town got will propel its ticket sales to tourists for the summer.

Didn't they announce that Cirque du Soleil bought the Lyric theater and they're going to use it exclusively for their shows from now on?

I believe OTT is moving out for their tour in August, and Cirque is moving in. King Kong may take the Broadway.

I'm surprised Cirque wants do move to New York again, after the morbidly bad Banana Shpeel and totally unimpressive, overblown, and ugly Zarkana.

OTT's tour is not scheduled to head out until Fall 2016.

The Broadway is already booked for the fall.
I think that listing is just not up to date in regards to King Kong

Just what we need. More Cirque du SH*T and theme park crap in midtown. I really wish Garth had just restored both those theaters separately rather than that big barn he made. It feels more like a hotel than a theater. But then again, he was Garth!

I love the work Cirque does and think that it's very beautiful. Yes, their two shows that had any sort of residency in NYC weren't their best work. Yet, that doesn't mean that the other stuff that they do is bad either. Cirque has always felt that it's been able to maintain an entertainment presence in every other entertainment city in the US, but not NYC. I honestly think that if they did, basically, A broadway version of their LA show Iris, then it can be extremely beautiful.

Walked by the stage door today and it looked like something was loading in or out. OTT is not going anywhere for awhile so maybe I am thinking it had something to do with what is loading in or out for the weeklong hiatus OTT is going on.

The Lyric is doing the Univision "Upfront" presentation. At this time of year a number of shows take a week off so that a network with deep pockets can come in and do their thing. They buy the entire week of salaries and ticket sales BTW.

Cirque is collaborating on THE WIZ directed by Kenny Leon which is supposedly opening in the Lyric sometime in 2016.

That's not exactly true. It's possible those deals have been made in the past but the most standard deal calls for the network/media company to cover the weekly nut + a percentage of the monthly rent. That's much different than "ticket sales," since that particular arrangement would actually net the producers much more money.
You'll rarely see any hot sellers agree to this because they are profiting enough keeping the show running for the week (WICKED, BOOK OF MORMON, etc). It's usually the shows struggling that are more than happy to take these kinds of deals... it means their break-even or nut for the week has been covered, plus a future portion of the monthly rent. That's a no brainer.

Saw Zarkana live (albeit in Las Vegas) and a recording of Banana Shpeel. Why do you ask?

Because much of your criticism has been ill-informed. I don't think anybody is allowed to judge a show on bootlegs. Let alone calling a show morbidly bad.
