She really is an amazing singer. Her riffs are a little out of control at times but her voice is astounding. I've now seen her several times and she has blown me away. Her "No Good Deed" brings down the house! It's amazing.
Originally, her "The Wizard and I" was really weak. It's fantastic now! But Saycon is a great woman and is a very nice person. She introduced herself to C is for Company and I over the summer and she was talking to us about the show.
The show is always amazing, no matter who's there. Rue also improved. Enjoy the show! Be sure to post a review.
everyone HAS to see shosh.
That's similar to reading, "everyone HAS to walk barefoot on broken glass". I really hope that isn't a new theatrical fan requirement.
Seriously though, I sincerely hope she is in since you are coming over the pond and want to see her so badly. I know what it's like to want to see your favorite performers and not getting to. (God help me if Norbert happens to be out of DRS when I get there)
However, please don't subject the rest of us being forced to see Shoshana.
Have a great time while you are in New York. It sounds like you have a very full schedule!

yeah i suddenyl had the big mind skip of this place not being the most humble place for wicked/shosh fans!
it wasnt an order, just my excitement on fullfilling a dream of going to broadway. ill rephrase; "everyone should give time to see shosh"
matt - doesnt wanna cause arguements
It was a joke, Matty. No need to apologize or reword your thoughts. Just playing around.
In terms of BWW not being friendly to Wicked fans, I don't know if that's true. I think it's more that we get annoyed by the quality of posts from new people who don't take the time to get familiar with the site and look to see if certain threads have been discussed already (ie. Who's the best Elphaba?, Idina is amazing! etc)
I personally don't care for Shoshana Bean's voice, but I know a lot of people do. That's just a matter of opinion.
Your comments in this thread were perfectly fine and I meant no ill regard with my post. Just having a little "damn time change, why am I up before 6:00 fun."

patronus: i can see how you wouldn't necessarily like shoshana's voice as elphaba...but have you ever heard her sing jazz? i saw her at the katrina benefit at the gershwin and was amazed!!!!!
I also am not much a fan of Shoshana's voice, especially when she belts, because she gets screamy and squealy and... I just, you know, like to have my ears intact. But I did hear her at the Katrina benefit, and liked the way she sounded much better.
Anyway, I hope she gets well soon.
Technically it says she can't attend Wicked Day "due to a prior commitment."
Nothing about being sick...don't spread rumours now
Patronus, I didn't get to see Johanna in DRS when I say it in San Diego before it hit Broadway....I was really ticked, until I realized her replacement was excellent!

That must have been added in later, because before it didn't say anything about her having a prior commitment - it just said she wouldn't be able to go.
Prior commitment? It was announced a while ago that she and Megan were going to judge the Wicked singing contest. It is wierd that she would suddenly remember she was busy. No Sho equals no go for me.
BTW Patronus, if you ever miss Norbert, you can always check the next show. Unlike Wicked, its possible to get a ticket to DRS on a day of performance haha
Blue J, I agree. I saw her site late last night when I got back home and they definitely added that prior commitment part in later.
Quick, who's BFF with Shoshana and can check on this? Hurry! MEF, where ARE you?
Shoshana and I ate dinner together last night. That's why I know it's "a prior commitment".

she's out of Wicked today, and Brandi is goin on as elphaba. Last night was Brandi's first night on as well. I hope reviews of her surface soon!
According to Shoshana Bean Online, Shoshana's a big part of a Halloween party tonight that benefits victims of Hurricane Katrina. Maybe she's working on that.
I am as big of an understudy supporter as you'll find, Elphaba. I could see understudies in every role while I am in NY and still be happy about it - except for Norbert. I really want to see him in that role.
The only other thing that would really be disappointing is if one of the ladies in Piazza took the night off.
