Just curious--is the show selling well enough to not be on TKTS? I want to see the show with Whoopi, but I don't want to spend 100+ dollars (which is what ALL tickets, except for on stage seats, which are sold out, are going for).
Has anyone seen it on TKTS lately or has it been selling out? Thanks in advance!
I've seen it on for 25% It's on and off. The rush tickets are also sometimes available.
I've seen it on the boards almost every time I've walked past the booth the last week or so.

Yeah, I just looked at theatermania.com and saw tickets "as cheap as" 75 (er 85) dollars.
I thought it was really hard to get student rush tickets for the show. Is it based on how the show is selling that day?

What time did you have to get there?
I got there at 12. I was about 8th or 9th in line. Me and my 2 friends got 1st row on the house left. I saw a girl who left the line but came back at around 12:45 and she seemed to get 10th-ish row house left orc.

Oh wow... what time does the box office open?
Sundays are at 12, and I think the rest of the days are at 10.
Yes, the box office opens at 12 on Sundays but student rush is 2 hours before curtain so they were available at 1 o clock.

So for tonight's show at 7, student rush would begin at 5?
Yeah, I think they're pretty strict...like they won't sell tickets past 6 but that might have changed. It opens at 5, I would get there at 4 just in case.

OK! I got my rush tickets tonight and I LOVED the show (for a second time)!
Everyone was spectacular--except for Whoopi, sadly. She is funny--but man.. did I miss Jackie. The show is PERFECTION when Jackie is in. Whoopi is nice... and the audience LOVES her, but if only they could have seen Jackie in the role. I can't wait for her to return.
The show is one of the 2 most fun shows I have ever seen (along with Hairspray). I was grinning throughout the whole show.
Thanks again for the help with rush :).
Not really fair to Whoopi or Jackie to compare them to one another. Both are incredibly talented women.

Why is it not fair to compare? I missed Jackie. Whoopi wasn't bad, but it did seem like she wasn't completely into it at times. She looked the sloppiest up on stage (not doing big arms like everyone else on stage, etc.)... she just stood out.
She wasn't bad--but the cast really is PERFECT when Jackie is in. Mary and Jackie work together so well.
The audience enjoys Whoopie, because many there are there to see her.
I sat next to a couple who loved her performance, and thought it was the greatest thing to ever hit Broadway. While I thought she was good, she wasn't *that* good.
She doesn't even play a lead character...
I was underwhelmed by her performance. Some new lines were funny but honestly even SHE did not seem to be putting forth that much effort. I missed Jackie a lot.
what are the chances of there being student rush for Saturday night? I just need one ticket ... but Whoopi's last weekend ... Labor Day weekend ... it's not looking so good.

I want to try to see it or Title of Show tomorrow with a friend... but it is a Friday night on Labor Day/Whoopi's last weekend...
Do they always have student rush or is it always based on what tickets are left?

When I went to inquire about rush at the box office last weekend, they gave me a piece of paper saying, among many things, "Tickets may not be available for all performances! Please do not call to check. You must come to the box office two hours prior to a performance. This policy is subject to availability and may be changed or withdrawn without prior notice."
So it sounds like you can line up at 6 (or earlier depending on how bad you want to see it) and get turned away. In any case, you could try Xanadu, and if they don't have any rush tix, head over to the Lyceum Theatre and try your luck with the lottery.
