Mr. Nowack said: "None of the OBC are as big as Matthew Broderick or Nathan Lane. And it's a far better show. As for advertising, believe it or not there are people who aren't obsessed and *gasp* may not have even heard of HAMILTON."

Sorry to go off topic, but if I'm remembering right, you're the poster in the Pittsburgh area, yes?  Do you remember what time of year the Pittsburgh Broadway Across America series gets announced?  Thanks.

"How else can a show with not 1 beautiful solo number, just a bunch of noisy people screaming and rapping be popular?"

It's popular with those who decree what needs to be popular --- and what will be. These people have a lot of power --- and use it.

As far as I'm aware the only scream in Hamilton is Eliza when Philip dies and even if rap isn't your thing, 'Burn' & 'Wait For It' are by all means beautiful solo numbers. Also Hamilton was popular long before BroadwayWorld started its heavy promotion of the show and is popular with groups of people that are unlikely to even visit BroadwayWorld.

This is the same as when people complain when PlayBill dreamcasts a show and all the names they suggest are way out there as far as the show, but are all names that drive SEO and web links. If you don't know how sites are making money these days, then I guess it will continue to perplex.

Of course.  Hamilton is struggling and desperately needs us to shill for it.

Oh boy- Hamilton is popular with me and my friends, so I guess we're all part of this powerful conspiracy. Neat!

No, no, it's just that philistines like you and your friends can't think for themselves. You were told to like it by the Secret Order of Dark Theatre Powers That Be. You ain't invited to those meetings.

Right? Literally no tickets left that aren't resale at the moment but of course they would pay BWW to promote for them!?

Ww,

Don't flatter yourself: you don't have that much power.

Incidentally, did you notice the critical reception accorded Hand to God in London? What do you think about it?

That means you are just a bunch of lemming followers that accept everything that people shove down your throat, in combination with being brainwashed by other people who have done it before them.

I mean, how on earth can you expect the son in this video to develop a decent sense of taste and style in life?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpDjev6PwjA

So, wonderfulwizard11, I can understand you like it, just like this son will probably like it (he seems to smile), but that is because he doesn't know better. It is all he knows. That makes it even sadder. So yes, you are a victim of this conspiracy.

It is highly unlikely that this boy will live to grow up to appreciate fine art, and to recognize sheer beauty and finesse and real emotion in the majority of singing voices and styles.

I think it is a quintessentially American show that, for many reasons, does not resonate in the UK-much like lots of UK shows that we never get here. I also think that HTG was indelibly linked to the performance of the remarkable Steve Boyer and that it was insane to export it without him. If you are seeing this as evidence of your conspiracy theory hokum, you are (as always) just thinking like a silly old cow.

Right. This is exactly why BWW and Playbill run stories on people who are only tangentially related to theatre, why they embed youtube links into a story and hope you click through three times to get there, why they try to associate one tweet about — oh, I don't know, the zika virus — to Hamilton.

Or you know, I listened to the recording, liked it a considerable amount, bought a ticket and thought highly of the show. But I guess Ben Brantley had a gun to my head when I made those decisions- he's sneaky, that one.

"Incidentally, did you notice the critical reception accorded Hand to God in London? What do you think about it?"

I did see that. Personally, I disagree with the London critics, but it doesn't change my opinion of the show I was happy to see twice here. I read reviews and find them interesting, but I don't always agree.

It's not "threats". It's "indoctrination" where the violence of the brainwashing lies.

They must have been really successful at indoctrination then, because I don't even remember it happening! Did they do it while I sleep? It's not as though I have a free weekend to devote to these sorts of things.

To be fair, London critics rarely agree on a show, especially compared to NY critics. I feel like everytime I look at London reviews they're mixed.

Exactly. Indoctrination is always wrong. So how can we broaden and evolve the visions and taste of Hamilton fanatics?

Once again, After8 is trying to get away with saying he saw a show he didn't see.

You do know that I'm not the boy in that video, yes? My parents played a lot of Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand, and Andrew Lloyd Webber in my house growing up, so I'm still not clear on when I was indoctrinated. Does Lin-Manuel have secret documents or something that can give me a time stamp?

Julie Andrews - Crazy world:

Kanye West - Brit Awards:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ABk7TmjnVk

Given the fact that I don't see the stampede from the Lion King reenacted with chicken flying around in the first clip, I think I can imagine what the little boy in the car will recognize as "beauty" when he grows up. The second clips is basically the same as the car clip. Loud, chaos and completely frantic/mentally deranged.

That is how people are formed.

Who knows when it happened. With all the Destiny's child, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj' and Rihanna etc, walking around in the wild, danger lies everywhere.

I don't know what your age is, but maybe you are only half indoctrinated, but I worry for the newest generation even more.

They must think that performing is moaning, screaming, masturbating and reenacting a zoo.
