Is it Common for A Director to Kiss the Stage Manager?

I worked with a director who said it was theater tradition for the director to kiss the stage manager (with tongue) before each rehearsal and before every performance he attended.

Should I feel used?

Just not if you're the director of a show stage managed by livest...oh, wait. The joke barely worked in the other context, and not at all here. I think that qualifies me to be a joke writer for the cavemen sitcom!

haha- Theatre people are just more sexually open with each other usually. I (a dramaturg/assistant director) have kissed many directors, (only 1 with toungue though). But yeah, it sort of depends on the person, and the amount of alcohol you have both consumed...

I'd just like to point out that my drama teacher / director for all my high school shows was the Black Angus cowboy from the commercials.
