when La Chanze chooses to play Glinda in The Wiz and Carolee Carmello takes a supporting role in Addams Family over lead roles in FWC? Just wondering...

Do we know for a fact that they both received offers to continue with the show?

Considering the lackluster cast chosen, I imagine both were offered and passed.

LaChanze declined her offer to continue with the show because she didn't want to leave her family, who are all stationed in NY, for the summer.

To my knowledge, Carmello's choosing of THE ADDAMS FAMILY over THE FIRST WIVES CLUB had a lot more to do with the former's already-established guarantee of going to Broadway than anything else.

Time will tell if their decisions were the right ones.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I was talking to Victoria Matlock (who is leaving Marvelous Wonderettes for FWC) this evening and she was saying how great the music is and she even sang a bit of one of the songs. I really liked the little bit that I heard.

Ana Gasteyer jumped off ship as well, so maybe Bobby's assumptions are right.

I just hope Zambello doesn't f*** it up like she did THE LITTLE MERMAID. That's my biggest worry about this show.

The first clue was this sentence "Directed by Francesca Zambello"

I'm slightly concerned that there is absolutely no marquee star power in this cast. While all 3 leads are respected on Broadway they're not "names" that would be useful for selling tickets

Sorry, Eris...but an actor or actress telling you their next project has great music is rather like a chef bragging about their soup. They HAVE to believe in it. You are not going to find to many actors that will take a gig and then tell the ticket buying public that is sucks.

I'm not saying it does suck....I could care less, just that the words of an involved performer don't mean diddly-squat.

^True. I mean...hell, even the cast of Lestat was diplomatic about their show.

The reason why the writing for 'The Little Mermaid' sucks so much is because Zambello had few major changes made to the book.

There's a lot more wrong with LM than the book.

Yeah, that ugly blown glass look and the terrible look of the mermaids only make it worse.

'9 to 5', 'witches of eastwick'... contrary to ppls beliefs, none of which are runaway smashes. what would make them think that there was a market?

Something doesnt' have to have been a smash hit to be successful. I'm not so sure the BE was huge success; and yet Legally Blonde WAS and was not a successful musical. I'm not sure one thing has to do with another.

Is Broadway ready for a musical adaptation of a film revolving three women who get fed up and decide to stand up to men?

Maybe if they got a famous singer/composer to write the score...

Yes.

The answer to every other question about this project is NO.

A.

I mean, really?

I am incredibly bitter THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK did not transfer (in 2001, 2004 or 2008- West End, Revised Tour, Revised US - all worthy productions) but we've gotten 9 TO 5 and this, a jukebox musical, within months of eachother both with very similar elements (or target audiences, at least).
