I saw the musical a couple of days after it started it's previews. I've gotta say that Im a huge fan of the movie, but the musical, in my opinion was OK. Some of the songs were a bit cheezy, like "omigod you guys", but others I just adored, like "Chip on my shoulder"!

Laura Bell Bundy actually was born in Lexington, Ky. (which is like 2 hours from where I live), So I really enjoyed her. Not just because she's from the Bluegrass State, but I think she is incredibly talented. Also after seeing the show, I have become an extreme Christian Borle fan! He is truely amazing! Im definatley behind him to win the Tony this year( as well as Laura)!

So overall, it was a pretty good show. As to the question "Would I ever see it again?". Well probably, just all depends.

Now you all have to remember I saw this on a Thursday, and I saw Jersey Boys Tuesday (both for the first time). I OBVIOUSLY fell in love with Jersey Boys right after the curtain went down(as well as John Lloyd Young). So it was hard for me to compare the shows after seeing them both so close together. They're 2 COMPLETLEY different shows!

I think it's a terrible, awful, annoying, ridiculous show, but last time I went further than that a cast member from the show who is a member of this site PMed me and told me off, so I'll shut up now.

I think that there are better movies to make musicals from. I didn't think Legally Blonde (The movie) was really anything special. I thought it was just a mediocre comedy.

And, Wicked4Life, just because he doesn't understand the concept of a show doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate theatre.

BroadwayEntusiast: If you have'nt seen Legally Blonde, how do you know it will be better than Shrek (which hasn't even been cast).

I've actually seen the show twice (*hides*) and I really think the show is just harmless fun. The general public seems to want fun and glamorous shows, so why not give it to them? As sad as it is to see the oldies go, why not embrace the new generation of shows? I think that you can end up being unhappy if you get too mad about the new generation of shows.

I didn't care for the movie and didn't think the show was a great idea. Even though it took off like gang-busters, I still see Blonde as a slow sinking ship. The last three weeks it has declined in attendance and I imagine when the grosses come out tomorrow it will have continued to do so. It's a mediocore show at best. It's pink, oh God is it pink and it's fluffy and a pleasant enough night out the first time. But it doesn't have staying power IMO. This time next year there may very well be something else occupying Blonde's space. Not to wish anything bad on the show. If it's still there next summer, I'll eat my dish of crow, but I really expect to be dining on steak.

WW, i was just saying legally blonde the musical is better source material than shrek, and its only my opinion, so...

and also, shrek may be a big money maker b/c of all the kids and maybe even grownups in their 20s-30s, whereas there are great shows out there that arent doing as well as they should be. i just hope it doesnt suck up a ton of money and stay on broadway for a long time. i mean, really, do we BWWers really want shrek to be a long-running show when there are fabulous show out there that should and could be long running shows.

Considering Shrek has'nt even had a tryout, I don't know whether we'll like it or not. How do you know people won't want the show to run? You can't judge based on source material.

You may call the fluff shows Broadway blockbusters but when you look at it from a larger scale, they do not compare to the bigger blockbusters, none of which are fluff. (Phantom, Les Miz, etc...)

But as I said before, time will change this. Sadly.

I don't know what's worse, Shrek or Legally Blonde. Shrek may actually work better -- the whole fairytale theme. But I'm not saying that it is going to turn out like Into the Woods.

has anyone noticed that the 3 longest running braodway shows are not only not fluffy, but they are all west end shows. shrek could be the next once upon a matress. id just think in general, WW, i dont think the majority really wants shrek or even legally blonde, for that matter, being on braodway.

Can we at least leave "Shrek" out of this? It is impossible to judge if a show will be terrible or not just from the title. People said "Pygmalion" would never be musicalized, and look what happened there. Wait until we at least see some form of workshop or out-of-twon tryout before writing "Shrek" off as dribble.

I cannot wait until the CD is released. Legally Blonde will sell. And the songs are funny and great and we loved them.
I thought it was a good idea for a musical. seems the bend and snap already leaned that way. Just my opinion.

NO, you are not alone in this thought. What's next, "The Simpsons on Broadway" {retching...]}. Things like this portend the demise of Broadway theatre and that's what's upsetting.
