It's not a fun show to be in as there is so little to get your teeth into. It's no worse than many shows of its ilk but as stated the book is a mess. The songs are pretty weak but have the odd nice moment. As stated earlier they never quite take off.
It appears this conversation ended in 05, but since I wasn't around then I'd like to add that Australian singer David Campbell does a great job with "The Kid Inside" on one of his early albums.
I saw the show on Broadway, thought it didn't work, but had a pleasant evening nonetheless. I remember PATENT LEATHER SHOES being funnier, but HIGH SCHOOL having more heart.
Opening Doors put on a production of this show a few years ago and it was not on of their better efforts, but then again it's not a very good show.
There's nothing to it, and despite having a pleasant song or two I found the whole thing to be forgettable. The only song I listen to on the OBCR is "Beer."
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
