Is this Schedule Logistically Possible?

As usual, I'm trying to cram as many shows into my New York trip as possible. On Sunday, December 28th, I'm seeing A Delicate Balance at 2pm at the Golden Theater on 45th/8th. Then, I am considering getting tix for Into the Woods at Roundabout/Laurie Pels on 46th and Bway at 7:30pm. Those two alone would be no problem.

Now I want to add the 5pm Nutcracker at Lincoln Center between the two. I believe Delicate Balance runs 3 hours, which means it would end just as Nutcracker is starting. I was thinking about getting a seat in the back of the theater and arriving late. And then booking out of there and hopping on the subway down to 49th for Into the Woods. I've seen the Nutcracker many times so I don't mind missing a bit of the beginning. But then again, I hate missing the beginning of things, even with previews at the movies.

So what does the board think? Would you try and shoehorn in a 5pm Lincoln Center show between a 2pm matinee and a 7:30 evening show? Or is it just not worth it?

No, I would never want to do that. Logistically, Lincoln Center is quite a hike away from 45th and Eighth. If you rely on the 1 train, you'd have to hope for no delays. Getting a cab might be hard at that hour.

Personally, I hate rushing to the theater. I understand you're trying to cram a lot in, but this is not the way. Just my personal opinion.

I am afraid you are right but I guess I was hoping somebody would talk me into it or convince me that LC is not as far as I think it is lol.

In addition to the 20 block jaunt, the biggest concern to me would be that you'd be thinking toward the end of A Delicate Balance that you need to be getting ready to bolt soon, and therefore not entirely present at what one hopes is some primo theater. That seems to be a deal killer to me, not to mention not worth killing by the Nutcracker.

You're assuming that A Delicate Balance will be held to 3 hours. But are you sure that intermission won't be held up? Or that you'll get out of the theater in the timing you think you will?

Plus, you're in the city at the height of tourism. December is the most crowded time of the year.

I can almost guarantee that if you can get out of the theater right at 5:00, you won't get to Lincoln Center before 5:45 and then back to Theater District by 7:30? It's too crazy of a schedule.

Plus, the Lincoln Center website says Nutcracker runs "90 minutes with an interval after 49 minutes"

So, you're basically going to miss nearly all of Act One.

Yeah, going 20 blocks in a cab at the peak of the holiday season is going to take a while, and you might have subway delays. The biggest issue? You somehow think arriving late to a show, any show, is acceptable. It's not. Skip The Nutcraker between the two shows, and have a relaxing dinner instead.

You are totally right about arriving late. It is terribly rude to the cast/musicians and to the audience. In my obsession over cramming in shows, I forgot about that. I hate arriving late and I have even skipped a show rather than going in late before. So thanks. I was foolishly thinking that maybe it was possible but you guys gave me some good perspective, which is what I needed.

P.S. I love the nutcracker joke! Glad I can say I was called a nutcracker on a message board :)

Are you going to be in the city on Monday the 30th? A Delicate Balance is having an evening show that night. (Unless you already have a show in the slot, of course.)

Telecharge will let you flip dates, never a big problem. They just say they need their manager to approve, and you need to re-buy a new ticket, and get that one refunded.
