Was googling around for things Sondheim and came across a listing for FOLLIES at the Kennedy Center in DC, May 7 to June 19, 2011.

Is this news? Or am I just the last to know?

Since Bernadette Peters recently added FOLLIES repertoire, and has explicitly stated she would like to play the role in an interview online, there is speculation she could be in this production.

Isn't Eric Schaeffer directing?

And what role if Bernadette looking to play? She is long in the tooth for any of the leads.

(Before anyone screams at me ... Alexis Smith, Dorothy Collins and Yvonne DeCarlo were all in their mid-to-late 40s in the original production. And that chronology makes sense in terms of the show.)

Maybe it's just me, but when I look at the pictures of Dorothy Collins and Alexis Smith and compare them to, say, Victoria Clark and Donna Murphy...Dorothy and Alexis seem like they're so much older. When they did Follies at Encores, Vicki Clark and Donna must've been roughly the same age Dorothy and Alexis were when they did the original production, right?

I'm assuming the Kennedy Center will be using the full, original orchestrations as they did for "Mame" and "Ragtime"? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

My latest thought on casting for Follies: Judy Kuhn as Sally. She's age-appropriate, and would sing the hell out of her songs.

Oh, Sally* - she sings Losing My Mind and Buddy's Eyes.

Maybe the people on ATC who first posted about Peters actually 'know' something too. (So it isn't just blindly based on her wanting to play the role, and her gaining these songs)

Didn't I read somewhere that this was going to be another 'scaled down' version? I'm so sick of seeing scaled down versions of big shows. I really want to see a quality full fledged production of Follies. It deserves it.

You might be confusing this production with the recent talk of Trevor Nunn's. Hopefully it will be the Kennedy production that transfers; though maybe Ragtime has taught them a lesson.

I wish the encores version transfered. Would have lasted longer than "Finians" !!

I hope this version gets a fab cast and finds its way to Broadway
