Posted: 3/11/07 at 10:29amIs today the last day for Bob. I have read conflicting dates and I am seeing it today for the first time and hope Bob is in. Any updates?

And I want to wish him a fond Farewell and the best of luck "across the pond".
His performance as Man and his writing for DROWSEY on Broadway were outstanding!
Cheerio Bob, those Lucky Brits.
Have a safe trip and come back to Broadway soon.

Posted: 3/11/07 at 1:05pmAny of you going today, is there anyone who would be willing to help me get a copy of the record for my father? I have exhausted all of my NYC contacts in vain, and it would mean a tremendous amount to me. I could paypal the money to you before you leave for the theater. I'm totally serious. Anyone, please.

Posted: 3/11/07 at 6:35pmHis understudies, Jay Douglas and Patrick Wetzel will be covering until April 15th when John Glover will be taking over the role. You can bet there will be some chat on the boards critiquing his performance.

I just got back, and while the show was amazing (as usual!!) there was absolutely no "fanfare"-
No second curtain call, no speech.. really..... nothing...
It was obvious while watching the end of the show that is was his last, but there was nothing done for him at the end, which I have to assume was by his choice.
*************** MINOR SPOILER ***********************
One very funny moment... at the end right when the plane is going up, Bob planted a big one right on the lips of Troy Britton Johnson---
Also have a question... was the birthday card line (about the sheep) new? I dont remember hearing it before, and seemed like it was thrown in- All I know is that Danny Burstein was hystercially laughing !!

Posted: 3/11/07 at 6:57pmI'll most likely go see it again with Glover, as he strikes me as completely wrong for the part. A great actor, yes, but an extremely creepy one at the same time.

Just got home also- the audience was CRAZY! The line about the sheep was put in. I remember reading Bob saying that in tryouts he would add in lines to see which would work. I saw Jennifer & Danny & Troy trying SO hard not to laugh when he said it!

There was deffinitly a punch line I can't remember/didn't catch but it was something:
"Now its down to an animated email on your birthday. This time it's a sheep and it says 'Happy Birthday'"
I know he once said (says in the playbill yearbook) "...this time it's a bunny & it says 'HOppy Birthday"
so the punch line was probably somewhere in there that I didn't really catch

yeah people were buying them. after i left i felt bad i didnt get one.
there was an understudy for Feldzieg (sp?) haha- he was HORRIBLE! ...just thought i'd add that in.
it also seemed like both Sutton & Beth are really tired of the show. Sutton wasn't her usual self as Janet. She seemed like "ughhh I've done this so many times geez I'm so tired of this role"

The line was "I got a birthday card with a picture of a sheep- It said "happy birthday to "ewe"---
The way he said it was hilarious !! Danny was trying so hard not to burst out laughing- Agree about the crowd. Incredibly into it, but could tell by only a smattering of entrance applause that most did not know this was Bob's last.

Just to continue beating this dead horse then, I was told by a friend who tried to drop by the theater and pick up a record for me that she was unable to get where they are sold without a ticket. I haven't been in the Marquis in a few years. Is this the case? Are they sold inside the theater itself now and not the lobby?
My father's 60th birthday is tomorrow and I have tried everything possible to get him this souvenir from his new favorite show for his birthday. It would be very helpful to me if anyone could clarify this issue.
Also, if anyone has any ideas of how I might be able to get one, I would be extremely grateful. (Any ideas, that is, other than the $400 copy on Ebay that claims they are all sold out at the theater).

Totally agree, and was not crazy about Peter Bartlett as Underling.
A few hours later, and I am still shocked that nothing was done for Bob at the end of the show !
I read somewhere recently that he MIGHT come back to the Broadway production. Maybe that was why??

Posted: 3/11/07 at 7:53pmJust got home from the show! It was so amazing. I was crying during Bob's last monlogue and then BAM he kisses Troy right on the mouth. It was hilarious! Overall, I'd have to agree with the statement concerning Sutton. She seemed very tired of the show. Beth, in m opinion wass energetic and seemed to be having fun.

Sutton signed on to do what is probably going to be the best (and most star-making) gig she'll ever get: Young Frankenstein.
I can understand her being bored....I just don't think she should be showing it.
#23re: Is today Bob Martins Last performance in Drowsy?
Posted: 3/11/07 at 8:05pmI completely agree. I'd expect more from her but hey, she could have been having a bad day. Either way, it was very sweet how she kissed Bob Martin's hand during bows.

Ourtime.... how much are the vinyls at the theater? My wife is going to the weds mat - (today was my turn-- such is the life of having an infant ! LOL)
She would be glad to pick one up for ya, if they are still available.
