I've been waiting for Marc to come on in here and spoil your little pity party. Glad it finally happened.
It's a bit unfair to have all this vitriol directed towards Zac at this point in time. He's been cast, the bitching ain't going to change that, so just give the kid the benefit of the doubt. He simply is not a big enough name that the casting team would have cast him in the role without being able to sing, so he obviously offered something worthwhile in the audition.
Marc Shaiman made this show and its music a hit on Broadway, hasn't he proven himself trustworthy to handle the stage-screen conversion?
is it possible that they're just moving/ repurposing it since marc said the new song is in the "it2" slot.
also am i the only one who actually LIKES "miss baltimore crabs"?
could be.
I also LOVE 'Baltimore Crabs,' and 'Velmas Revenge.' I aways expect her to curse in 'BC,' I wonder if thats part of the "uncut" version Marc was talking about.

AAAHH! I retract my previous post... I'm sorry, that was immature.
I really liked that song
oooh a new ballad for tracy! Hopefully they will incorporate it into the stage version sometime soon
I don't know how I'd like that.
It'd be the first screen, stage, screen, stage musical though.
Mateo, the "uncut" version of BALTIMORE CRABS that Mark Shaiman mentioned in the interview probably does have dirty words in it, but, most likely, it's about Velma and a not-so-friendly STD. That is the joke within the song, anyway.... She screwed all the judges and then was crowned Miss Baltimore Crabs.
Baltimore Crabs was like the only good song in that show.

It's kind of disappointing to hear that they are thinking about taking out It Takes Two... hopefully they don't. I am interested in hearing the Tracy. For now, I'm just going to wait. I'm honestly glad that Marc and the boys haven't listened to high school musical, perhaps he's just better than we think. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, because I found out yesterday that Anne Hathaway was a lot better of a singer than I thought... and I think she should have played Christine in the Phantom. Sorry to get off topic, but I'm going to try to keep an open mind till at least I see the trailers, and more things advance.

I am glad they are giving Tracy another song, It is needed. Since all she has to herself is GMB. I wonder if this song will be in place of the GMB reprise.
Aww, they should tape it anyway and put it in deleted scenes.
Thats what i say. I am sure there is a camera crew already filming stuff for special features. That seems like it is the norm, on a movie set these days.
Hmm...
As much as It Takes Two is my favourite song ever to sing, I would love to hear what Marc and Scott come up with for Link...hopefully something that furthers the plot a little more and maybe develops Link and Tracey's relationship some more....and hopefully it will come out as a karaoke track so I can own that too :)
Akiva
hahaha my thoughts exactly akiva.
Who thinks there she be a music only track on the dvd aswell as commentary with Adam Marc, and Scott, and a commentary with the young leads? Cause I do.
I wonder how Newline treats their Dvd's? hopefully well.

Well the way Marc stated it, it sounds like It Takes Two is still in the film, just in a different location and a new song is in the slot that It Takes Two was in in the stage production.
May be 'it takes two' will appear in a montage of kids running into a record store buying his album, after they breiftly show him sing it on TV.
We then see Lil Inez listening and bopping to the song, as a few older black girls chuckle at her 'white boy' fascination.
...or something like that - I try to think cinematically how the songs will play.

Although I've never seen it live, "It Takes Two" is my least favorite song on the OBCR. Don't kill me but I also dislike "I Know Where I've Been", they're the only two songs I skip on the recording.
I do love "Miss Baltimore Crabs" and "Cooties" though, so I hope they don't get cut!

"...a not-so-friendly STD. That is the joke within the song, anyway.... She screwed all the judges and then was crowned Miss Baltimore Crabs."
As Celie would say, "DEAR GOD!" I never made that connection of screwing and getting crabs before.
I like that song, actually. And the two Motormouth sing.
If you take out "I know where ive been"- you take out the whole show. That scene if done well, might be the highlight of the movie. With QL behind it - im sure she'll knock it out of the park.
Im worried about the state of "the big doll house."
In the Penny "sides" for the film auditions... she says "My mother is punishing me for harboring a fugitive without her permission." Because there is a cute scene prior, where Penny and Tracy are in Penny's basement. (I wont say anymore for spoiler reasons) but does that mean if Penny doesn't go to jail... no one will go to jail?
After reading some of the sides- i am even more excited, Leslie Dixon looks like she did a fine job of adapting the book.
Sooo.... am I the only one who won't cry if "It Takes Two" is kicked out of the movie? I never have really liked the song and the best thing about its place in the show is Tracy's musical orgasm at the end of the song. And I am a bit saddened by "Miss Baltimore Crabs" being taken out. It's such a fabulous bitch number... with such a fun cha-cha beat. Just don't change a thing to "Welcome to the 60s" (unless to give the Dynamites more **** to sang).
Zach
I agree, i think the Dynamites should get their own song, and should appear on Negro day, since we never see it in the actual show.
