I am similarly disturbed, but not quite as disturbed that nothing of Chbosky's script remains. That script was genius.

yes it's ridiculous that it upsets you. i mean you're carrying on over a pair of pants. think about it. be happy that Anthony Rapp is in at all...plaid pants or no plaid pants....that's what really matters.

I know that the actors and everyone will still pour everything they've got into it... but I've come to associate plaid with Rent. It will just feel off. *clings to hope of Blue Plastic Pants*

As much as I love the plaid pants, its not that huge of a deal is it? I mean they are just a pair of pants..... I loved them as much as the next person in the show but don't let it ruin your view/experience of the movie version because Roger is less of a diva. :-P
I wanted to get something that an "ex"-junkie like him would really appreciate and cherish....it's a brick of heroin shaped like a heart.

lol, poor Lael! No but I understand the upset over the pants. A small part of me wilted inside when I read about the lack of plaidness in the movie. :-/
And I think Adam's hair is like that to give him a more down-to-earth look as oppose to the super straight, spikey blond hair he had for the show.

I'm really sad. Aside from them looking great on Adam, they're a part of his character. Those pants are Roger's trademark. It just feels like he's missing something.

And we'll all miss the Roger trademark. But at least Angel's costume is still in there as well as the Mark scarf and glasses.

Well, as Anthony just posted, Roger in the movie will be less flashy than Roger in the show. It seems to me that they're taking a more realistic view of him as someone who is very depressed and therefore wouldn't be dressing up, cutting and streaking his hair, etc. Not what everyone is used to, obviously, but film often requires more of that kind of realism. I think it will work much better for those who aren't familiar with the theatrical version too.
Nia, I'm sure that part of the reason you're so upset is that you're physically feeling lousy right now. Hopefully you'll soon be feeling a little better on both fronts.

Well I think you have to realize that the movie is what it is: a movie. If you want plaid pants...go see the show. But don't expect the exact stage version on film.
If THAT upsets you, then you might want to take some kleenex with you into the movie theatre...b/c there will probably be much more.

Yeah, I'm actually more in favor of the more realistic Roger for the movie. It wouldnt really be believable to an audience if they saw Roger strutting around in plaid with streaked and styled hair on a cold NYC day. :-P People who aren't RENTheads like us would just be like WTF? The show is supposed to be exaggerated and flashy to capture the audiences and it worked amazingly but I can see why it might not work so well for a movie.

I think the hair works long and undyed (though it's WAY too nicely done, it looks like he spent forever on it and I doubt Roger would even look in the mirror), it's the clothes that bug me. He doesn't look much like a would-be rocker. Where is the grunge?

Okay, yeah. I'm thinking about this, and I'm sad, but it's not worth crawling into a hole and dying over. Would you rather the part be played by Justin Timberlake if he could wear plaid pants? We can be disappointed, but should at least be happy with what we've got, and that's one HELL of a guy up there. There has to come a point where we can give in and have it be more about the character and how he's manifested in more ways than physicality.

I actually really like his hair right now. I think it would look more over-styled had it been streaked and straightened etc. Right now it looks really good. :-P

I know what you mean - it's that sweater. But the leather jacket with jeans seems to work, and maybe that's what we'll mostly see.
I don't agree about the hair being nicely done, but then, my hair is usually a disaster so I have no expertise.

I was under the impression that she'd be wearing blue leather for Out Tonight but that could easily change. And I really thought Adam's costume in those pics worked well.
