From Playbill.com -
Trevor Nunn will direct Glenn Close in a new Broadway production of A Little Night Music in 2006, Variety reported.
Playbill On-Line first broke the news that Close was gearing up for Night Music on April 26, when the Tony winner told PBOL that her next stage stint would be the 1973 musical, which she saw coming together two years down the road.

NIGHT MUSIC is such a strange little show. I really don't know how well this revival will go over with people.
There was a production at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre with Into the Wood's Chuck Wagner that was successful.
But....I see your point...
I think Glenn Close is perfect for the role!
The Chicago Production was very successful.
I vote for Carol Channing as Madame Armfelt! Can't you just hear her now..."No, not even figs....RAAAAIIIIIIIIIIISINSSSSSSSS"
Ohhh psych!!! ALNM has been a favorite for quite some time, and the chance to see Glenn Close just makes it even better.

Doing the happy dance!!
Ziemba as Charlotte, anyone?
Michelle Pawk as Charlotte...even better.
Did you see MP do it at City Opera, Sueleen?
No, I had forgotten that she was in that. Maybe that's why she popped into my mind. Would still love to see her do it on Broadway, though.

Several years ago Glenn Close took a summer rental in my neighborhood. She looks positively ghastly without make-up and even worse when she did her grocery shopping with curlers in her hair. YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is definitely going to be Must See Theatre!!
Well....all Sondheim on Broadway is must-see theatre. *sigh*
I'm just so happy...
Double post....sorry

I love A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC and I am happy it's being revived. But it's a tough show to get just right. And the reteaming of Close, who is too old for Desiree, and Nunn takes a lot of the excitement out of it. How will Nunn work in his recent penchant for including film in this property? Will the sctors stand still and the set "dance" in the waltz sections?
Whatever makes you say Close is too old? I think she is the perfect age.
Well...she's supposed to be not quite fifty according to the text.
I'm excited to see Glenn in it (but would have killed for Annette Bening to perform the role.
Can Benning sing? I don't think I've ever heard her before.
I am looking forward to seeing Glenn Close return to Broadway in A Little Night Music. I love this show! It's quite an unusual show and Glenn tends to like roles that are a little "off center". It should make for good theatre.
