Sam - Les Mis is kind of like Ragtime. Its a historical fiction show mixing factual events with fictional characters. The factual June Rebellion of 1832 was a two day unsuccessful uprising of Parisian students caused by the death of a certain General Lamarque (the only factual person mentioned in the show)
Mama - seriously? We don't have to bring Priscilla into every thread :)

Is it a specific historical event, or just any period show? I was thinking of including My Fair Lady and Oliver but wasn't sure

Phantom - are you just naming random shows that pop into your head now? Mamma Mia?? The only thing old about that putrid pile of synths and disco balls is the average age of its audience

It could be even argued that the musical 'The Beautiful Game' could be added to the list.

Not argued at all - Beautiful Game is definitely on the list.
Its set in a very certain time period - '69, IRA, religious intolerance etc
