I mean, get a Broadway guy (think Jeremy Jordan) for Joseph and either a pop star or well-known Broadway performer for the Narrator (Katherine McPhee actually wouldn't be too bad) and it could do really well. In a dream world, Natalie Weiss would be a great Narrator, but they would need a more well-known Joeph. It could do really well with the right people involved.

There is a difference between debate and argument.

And you are not my student, this is the grown-ups table.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

"Since it's from Genesis, I think there should be a revival from the Creationist point of view. Joseph can ride around on a dinosaur."

That would be inaccurate. Joseph lived after the flood when Noah conveniently forgot to put any dinosaurs on the Arc.

I think this is one of those shows that has been beaten into the community theatre mold, never to return to Broadway again.

You mean like Grease?

I actually enjoyed the 90s revival and wouldn't mind seeing a quality professional production again. Sure, it's cute and G-rated family fare, but I also think it's a very well-constructed show. It does seem sort of weird that there's an argument going that the show is produced endlessly everywhere by everyone, but most people aren't familiar with it? At any rate, I probably would not be interested in a revival of any show that I'd been forced to see in amateur, school or community theatre productions (Annie Get Your Gun, Little Shop, Sweeney Todd, Hello Dolly and Gypsy spring immediately to mind), but the 90s revival is the only production I've seen of this.

But as we've seen with Godspell, any revival of Joseph will need to have some sort of hook that will make this production seem unmissable.

I would love (and I may have mentioned this before), a smart but campy "poor theatre" Joseph in the Starcatcher mold. Just a twelve person cast, on a unit set, with minimal orchestrations, as those twelve people use a variety of frequently low-tech but funny stage magic to bring the locales and gags to life, all of them serving together as Narrator, Ensemble, Brothers and the other various characters.
