Happy New Year all! Has anybody seen the JCS tour lately? I just saw it in San Jose on 12/30 and was so, so disappointed. While the cast has wonderful lovely voices, they roamed around the stage without any interaction with eachother. A completely forgettable performance. Well except for Ted Neeley, who still manages some incredible screaming. However, even he seemed to talk to God more than to the other characters sharing the stage. The only person out was Glover, so we had an u/s on for Judas who sang beautifully (vocally he reminded me of Tony Vincent). Overall, I was very underwhelmed.

Wow. I'm pretty sure I caught the "farewell" tour 15 years ago. I was underwhelmed then.
this "farewell"has lasted longer than Cher's
It was not a "farewell" tour 15 years ago, and it's not a "farewell" tour now. 15 years ago, it was a celebration of the anniversary of the film release at the time. Now, it's just a tour that was initially billed as a "farewell" tour in a bid to sell tickets. It's not actually a "farewell" tour. Ted has made it plain he will continue to play Jesus for as long as he is physically and vocally able, and I say God bless him for it, he's the only good Jesus the show has ever had!

I saw one of the last legs of the last tour in June and I loved it
I loved the Broadway Revival but this was okay.
Do you know about any changes with the show cause I know they made several changes on their long break
Has anyone bothered to tell Ted Neeley he is nearly twice the age Jesus was when he died?
Actually, Ted was the one who pointed this out when I was talking to him after a show in Phoenix. He seems pretty good natured about it.
Also.. let me mention that this is coming in NEW ENGLAND AREA too in Providence, RI at the Providence Performing Arts

I like the revival better. The show is here in San Diego now, but I'm really not interested. I'll stick with Tony Vincent.
Its coming here to chicago in febuary for a week and im thinking i should see it just to see Ted Neely as jesus.

Ted Neeley was actually at the original crucifixion.
I saw a rehearsal of this production. Great cast. Shame about the staging.

'Farewell Tour' -the show closed more than 3 decades ago. It looked tired and outdated when it went on its 'First National Tour'. Talk about flogging a dead horse. I did a national tour of the show in the UK back in 1983 and it was a hard show to sell then just after completing 8 years in London. 8 years was record breaking back then. The guys on here who have seen theses recent productions around the US can i ask you what kind of business it does these days?

The 1993 A.D. tour with Neeley and Anderson grossed over 300 million dollars and was extended from a short run to more than 4 years.
$300m Try a bit lower.
