I was just watching SNL and realized that Jack Black would be PERFECT for William Barfee. Thoughts? Comments?

I never thought it would be possible to make Jack Black more annoying than he already is, but that just might do it.
Too small a part for Him.
I wanna see him in Dirty Rotten !
I always felt like Dan Fogler was basically playing Jack Black as Barfee.
Personally, I can't stand him. So, I'd prefer not.

Hm... were they reading this thread? They just did a skit about a Spelling Bee...
I love Jack Balck. I think he'd be a great Barfee! And as long we're casting SNL people in Spelling Bee I'd love to see Will Forte as Leaf Coneybear.
OMG..that would be awesome!!!
Why, because he's fat, sloppy, and they look alike?
When Norbert leaves I'll bet Jack Black goes in as Freddy!
For the entire performance of DRS, all I could see was Jack Black as Norbert seems to be channeling him.
I thought the same thing, Rath -- Norbert was SO Jack Black in that role - I mean, his choreography during Great Big Stuff is basically Jack Black's signature side to side dance-step...
I'm just not sure that Jack Black has the ability to sing it like Norbert does.
Black would do a great job singing Freddy.
Ohhhh Jack Black CAN sing... Have you ever heard Tenacious D? His band! Don't just sit there - go buy the CD - NOW!

Having read this thread--makes me want to comment on a few things---All three men Jack Black, Dan Fogler and Norbert Leo Butz are great comedic talents. From following their careers, my sense is that they are each wildly inventive.
Yes there are similarities in body type and the industry actually does categorize people as The next Jack Black--etc---but I think none of them is imitating the other. To me that denigrates their unique considerable abilities.Yes. each of these men also have great range and can play dramatic roles convincingly as well. Could we imagine them in each others' parts? Yes---
Dan has commented in interview after interview that Barfee is lovingly based on his brother who was born with a collapsed nasal passage and who was a spelling genius.
I also think that the beauty of Spelling Bee is that the cast is not made up of big name celebrities. Hopefully, this gifted ensemble will each have deserving great success--but I do not think when sadly any of them moves on--their character will have a star replacement. It would create an imbalance.
It is more likely that DRS will look for a known entity.
I also think it is a compliment to each of these gifted performers that we do recognize what they are capable of.

I love Jack Black...Although I totally think he's insane!!! But, I do think he would make a great Barfee!
I thinkk it is all said than, Jack is a great singer (I'm a big Tenacious D fan myself) and as Rath said Norbert has been channelling JB and he would be sooooo perfect as Freddy, Just look at him, He's soooo deliciously low, So horribly Dirty....(LOL!)
It's funny.
I watched SNL last night too, and during his monologue/song I immediately thought: Jack Black must be the next Freddy Benson in DRS. Imagine him doing Great Big Stuff...and when he showed his belly--it was instantly Ruprecht. It would be so great to secure the show lasting long on Broadway, as well.
He is a refreshingly unique and talented comedian. Would THE JACK BLACK work on Broadway, though? Could he be taken seriously? I don't know about that....
That would be Hilarious i would so see that!
he'd be better for DRS because he has name recognition. If he did the Bee, it would become the Jack Black show, instead of the wonderful ensemble piece it is.
