I just got an email stating Jacques Brel's last performance at the Zipper will be 2/25.
"The near-year running Off-Broadway hit, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, has announced it's official closing date. The final curtain is set to fall for the show on February 25th, not the previously announced April 1st. Jacques Brel opened at The Zipper on March 27, 2006 and has proven to audiences it's timely importance by transcending the barriers of time and speaking to us on issues of love, loss, redemption and the promise of a better tomorrow. We, at The Zipper, have loved sharing our home with the talent and voice that is Jacques Brel. Please tell all your friends and join us and the cast in the next few weeks to celebrate one last time the incredible Off- Broadway revival that is Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. "
So sad. Glad I got to see it!
Who sent the letter out, if you don't mind me asking? Was it from someone at the Zipper, or from the Brel newsletter, or what? I'm surprised others haven't received it. This is extremely disheartening news to me, but I thank you for sharing. Best, - Mike
Damn, Constantine closes shows like its his J.O.B.
An email from the Zipper Theatre. I'm on a mailing list.
I knew it was coming.
It's not due to Constantine. The show was going to close anyway.
hahaha, DRG, I was thinking the same thing.

Too bad, right before I get back to NYC. This is one of the few shows I wanted to see again.
I'm grateful that I finally caught it last week. It was fantastic, and I'm so glad that I got to see it. Not to mention the gorgeous Zipper Theater. Such a cool place.
I loved this show and I am so sad to see it close.
Let's put it this way: if Constantine gets cast in a show, at least we know it'll be closing within 2 months.

Kill me. I knew I shouldn't have gotten out of bed today.
Does anybody know Alanis Morissette's number?
I think there are so many other things in the world today that deserve the word , sad. I don't believe the ending of a business venture is one of them.
I saw it. I enjoyed it. Shows close. Next.
I wish i could have seen it... love the cd though, it will live on through that...
while i admit i would've liked to have seen it again i'm glad to see that it had such a long lustrous life :)
Wonderful show, great timeless songs, cool staging and choreography, fab music, funky venue, it was a great experience.
And it wasn't Constantine who closed it, he's been filling seats like crazy. Word is that it was down to a trickle before he started his run. The week I attended they had three sellouts and the rest were mostly full (as per the merch crew keeping tabs). I don't remember seeing any empty seats.
He's got mad skillz, I'm looking forward to his next project. And Cuccioli, Marshall, and Paterson as well. Those four were such a complementary troupe. I loved it.
I wish the cast recording had Maroulis and Paterson, they were great.
I'm going to see it again before it closes.
Love how Bob and Constantine sound together.
I'm glad I got to see this one.
The show was already in trouble by the time Constantine started. Too bad. It had a nice run for off Broadway.
I thought Maroulis was passable. The three others had the mad skilz, Maroulis simply either looked mad or had basic skillz at best.

The show is a small, intimate evening much like watching a movie from the 60s with some close friends. Highly recommended.
Also, a quick and shameless shill. Some of the Brel team (Davis, Svejcar) recently completed a rock musical film for the indie/festival circuit. The trailer is up at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZF-dEQbJ0QI
Aww, that sucks. I loved that show -- saw it three times, actually.
(ANDYF, kudos on the Alanis comment. I miss that show too!)

I saw it three times and I'm going again next week.
I loved it.
