Box offices won't know anything. And anywhere that has the public number listed for a theatre would just have the number for telecharge or ticketmaster.

I'm pretty sure that if you actually got a box office they would be able to see the understudy board. The phone numbers for the box offices of Nederlander Theaters can be found in the credits listing in any playbill from one of those houses.

The understudy board goes up one hour prior to the performance, so it is not as if the box office staff could look at it right now.

Telecharge often knows. They knew when Fantasia and Ebersole were out sick. You can often try them. Once, they put me on hold and called the theatre. They are always very helpful. They have exceptional customer service.
