Hmm should be interesting
I'm not too opposed to the idea. Look at how Willy Wanka turned out. I mean sure, they changed its name and some of the plot, but it was still good :)

Why has Willy Wonka never come to Broadway? That needs to happen.
The stage version of Willy Wonka kinda sucks. Have you heard the cast recording? It's kind of silly.
oh i bet it does suck
and i think its mainly because the movie musical came first
but i feel that if this was a musical before they made a movie musical ( i mean there is a VERY good movie, but its not a musical) then it would be good
Dahl's stuff is perfect for musical theatre - and theatre in general. It's a shame that the Roald Dahl foundation are very tight with their work (much like the R&H Foundation). There are so many Dahl books screaming out to be musicalised.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - the movie - is an interesting musical. It comes across as extremely dated and, whilst it would be impressive on stage, would need a major re-working as well as many new songs.
James and the Giant Peach is an interesting choice because it's already a (bad) film musical. As this production is not a Disney one, they won't be using Randy Newman's terrible songs - and I hope they use a great songwriter or songwriting team.
I also hope they keep it entirely British.
Will be an interesting show to follow.
I'm kind of...not kind of... REALLy excited for this. It will be very cool on stage.
A musical stage version of 'James' has been touring the UK for many years, I think its approaching 20 years now, and has played the West End for at least 2 seasons.
Although it isn't of the size the Broadway production will end up being it has been incredible successful.
