I used to enjoy Mickey-Jo's videos but lost interest when he switched to calling himself a professional theatre critic. I consider him more of a social media theatre pundit.

So was she ill for the recording session or not?

Odd choice not to perform a song that features Buddy. Was that a recording of the full cast singing but only 7 actors present for the broadcast?

I would love to see it back at the Garden or maybe a smaller venue but still that same environmental staging with the scenery extending out into the auditorium. A Christmas Carol was another “immersive” production way before the resurgent trend we’re seeing now.

A tribute is a good idea since he’ll probably never win a Tony for best score so long as the award is for lyrics too.

The success of the Wicked movie would not translate to people running out by the millions to see a Pippin movie just because Stephen Schwartz wrote the songs. Schwartz and Holzman have said in interviews that they’re talking about future projects involving the Oz IP.

The best Christmas Carol. “A Place Called Home” is gorgeous.

Isn’t it just that Rose is inside the theatre and the marquees are outside the theatre? There doesn’t  have to be some meaningful reason behind it. The original Sunset Boulevard scenic design by John Napier included a backwards sign for Shwab’s drugstore because the action took place inside the store and the sign was meant to be seen from the opposite direction outside the store. It’s not that deep.

Is it alright for businesses near the tour theatres to complain about the noise levels or no?

Ryan is a great choice. I was honestly expecting them to tap someone who has replaced Jordan in the past, a bit uninspired, this is the opposite of that and very exciting casting.

I’ll be curious to see what the grosses look like without Jeremy Jordan.

Disney might have had a chance to win another best musical Tony award with Hunchback, but not with the low budget storybook theatre version they finally produced in the US. The only thing that saved that production was the cast.

“Whistle at Me” is obvious someone on the creative team decided Pearl shouldn’t be longing for a train to whistle at her, and Rusty needed consent to whistle at Pearl. It’s not entirely successful but the lyric “whistling’s okay if it’s Pearl and Rusty” is cute. And it never really occurred to me before that there wasn’t a song setting up Pearl and Rusty as a couple until now.

The album is out now. I’m enjoying it. I wish it had been a complete recording of the score but what’s here captures this new production nicely. It would have been nice if they had included the new version of “The Rap.” That’s the biggest omission of the main songs, but otherwise I’m enjoying what they did include.

I’m curious to find out which song they’re using for the opening number, “Christmastown” or “Happy All the Time?”

If it’s not Reeve Carney what are they even doing?
