She would be interesting replacement for Laurie Metcalf in ADHP2... just saying!

I wouldn't be surprised if she came back and did a limited run (like a Shakespeare in the Park or 6-week Off-Broadway gig) of something, but I doubt we'll see her in a major/open-ended production any time soon.

I think it would be great if Jan Maxwell joined ADH 2. She was actually in a revival of A Doll's House in '97. So this would be an interesting take on 2.
I just think she is so, so, much, such a fine performer but that TV money is hard to turn down. She was dynamite in the "Brain Dead" series.(that was such a fun show). She's also popping up everywhere still, she's even doing "Gotham". Hopefully she might return for a limited run.

When the character of Jane Davis was introduced in House Of Cards S5, I actually squealed with delight because Patricia Clarkson reminds me of Maxwell so much that I thought it was her at first.

I have to admit that I don't get all the Jan Maxwell love. Thought she was very good in The Royal Family, but paled in comparison to Rosemary Harris's performance, in the same role in the '70s production or as Fanny in the last one.I thought she ruined Lucy and Jessie in Follies, although she did a very good Could I Leave You (but not as good as Dee Hoty's at the Papermill (via the CD). She was fine in Coram Boy and Lend Me a Tenor, but nothing special. What is it you folks and others see that I am missing?

She was easily the best part of the Follies revival, though the choreography to Lucy and Jessie definitely did her a disservice. I would love to see what she'd do with Nora.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

If she wants to leave broadway behind then let her go. Personally, I felt she over acted in everything I've seen her do onstage.

But we're talking other performers in the same role. I don't think that is unreasonable. She was the least successful Phyllis I have seen (Alexis Smith, Diana Rigg, Blythe Danner, Donna Murphy and Dee Hoty (but only on CD). I think that is relevant.

Of the three actresses I have seen play the role she played in Follies, I felt that she was the only one
who brought the chorus girl from long ago---the innocent who had come from the midwest---into her present life. I liked the other two actresses, Blythe Danner and Donna Murhphy, but Ms. Maxwell was the only one who seemed to take on the challenge of this woman morphing from an innocent into an upper east side matron with a harsh side.
