Jane's Titanic refernce in She Loves Me

I love the show, seen it 3 times and could still see it again!

I was going to post this, but forgot (natch) but Sunday's broadcast reminded me of one thing that struck me. At the end of Ilona Jane gets on the rolling staircase and does a Kate Winslet bit:

It was cute, but really anachronistic.

Did anyone else notice it? Was anyone else bothered by it?

yes, of course. Noticed it in the theater, noticed it that night. My son who has ONLY seen the Tony promo noticed it, and laughed. (And I'm pretty sure he's never seen Titanic)

As to it being anachronistic, I think its simply a wink to the contemporary audience.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

It's more so the characters don't know they're making a reference, but we as a 2016 audience get the joke/reference. So it's not really anachronistic. It's not like the characters reference it.

It didn't register with me at all when I saw it in March. I'm seeing it at the end of the month. I'll look out for it.

But the reference comes from the 1997 movie, not the actual sinking.

Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.

It was a joke... hence the :)

But here is another one for you all to fit the 1997 timeline. Maybe Kate Winslet took the reference from Ilona.

They're both fictional movies. I noticed Jane do it when I saw the show but it doesn't seem out of place at all or even that much of a nod to the movie. It's not like Jane screamed "Look at me! I'm Rose!" during a musical interlude. Seems like a natural thing to do when it feels like you're flying.

You can see Krakowski doing it on the 2016 Tony Awards performance. No need to wait till the end of the month.
