It could be a success, but only if they completely rewrite all the music written for the main character (Ethan?)...I remember sitting in the theatre and everytime he opened his mouth it was some down-tempo piano groove so bland that it would put even Billy Joel to sleep.
I remember the songs for the girls being better than the songs for the boys, too, which is not how JRB usually does things.

Back when the show was running, I always thought that it should have been made into a Disney Channel or Nickelodeon TV movie. I think it could do pretty well, and I'm not entirely surprised given the success of many of the former cast members that it's coming to light again. I'd totally see the movie, and I enjoyed the show the two times I saw it. Very talented group of kids.

Posted: 10/7/13 at 7:17pmI found the show to be enjoyable when I saw it. Is it the greatest musical ever? No. But I was 17/18 when it was on Broadway and thought it was a lot of fun at the time. I think there's a market for it, especially among the 12-15 year old age group.

Posted: 10/8/13 at 1:37amI quite liked 13 the Musical for what it was. I will say I think the score of 13 is better than the scores of 9 to 5 and Shrek, both of which were Tony nominated for score that year. A Little More Homework is one of my favorite recent theatre songs. I'm glad I saw the show.
