They are making ANOTHER movie of Rent?
...actually, you're not really that far off... I always felt 13 was kind of derivative of Rent's approach...
But... Why?
I can't wait to hear "Day turns to day turns to day to turns to day turns to day turns to day turns to day" over and over on an endless loop during the closing credits. It'll be amazing.

Frankly, I liked his score to "13" better than either "Last Five Years" or "Parade". Well, there's one song in Parade I think that's better than anything in "13"...but just that one song...

Is 13 a rather lumpy show overall? Yeah. But I see it as at least partially an excuse for JRB to flex his pop muscles which he has somewhat put aside otherwise.
Will it be entirely filmed, scored, cast, produced, and marketed by people under the age of 15???
Why would JRB have anything to do with BABY, IT'S YOU and why are they making it a film???

I always thought it would make a great Disney Channel Movie. But that was when the "High Scool Musicals" were still alive and kicking.
JRB has nothing to do with RENT!

Woah woah. 13 is a treasure that tells a story about young people coming to age. MOVIE GOLD
The book and lyrics are nothing more than strings of exhausted cliches, and the music is the lightest of bubblegum kiddie pop - it seems that it could be an enormous hit.
Far enough removed from High School Musical not to be considered a rip-off... slightly better quality than the Camp Rock franchise (but only slightly)... might be seen as a Glee Lite for younger viewers... holy ****, you're right. It could go wide.

I don't hate this show the way you guys do but that being said....eh.
It could be a success, but only if they completely rewrite all the music written for the main character (Ethan?)...I remember sitting in the theatre and everytime he opened his mouth it was some down-tempo piano groove so bland that it would put even Billy Joel to sleep.
I remember the songs for the girls being better than the songs for the boys, too, which is not how JRB usually does things.
Honestly, it will probably work better on screen than on stage.
Back when the show was running, I always thought that it should have been made into a Disney Channel or Nickelodeon TV movie. I think it could do pretty well, and I'm not entirely surprised given the success of many of the former cast members that it's coming to light again. I'd totally see the movie, and I enjoyed the show the two times I saw it. Very talented group of kids.

I think everyone would prefer to die than see this movie
I take you will be drinking the kool-aid first Chris?
I found the show to be enjoyable when I saw it. Is it the greatest musical ever? No. But I was 17/18 when it was on Broadway and thought it was a lot of fun at the time. I think there's a market for it, especially among the 12-15 year old age group.
It's a fun show to play in the pit for. I was keyboard 2 over the summer for a local theatre and it is a pleasant playing experience.

I quite liked 13 the Musical for what it was. I will say I think the score of 13 is better than the scores of 9 to 5 and Shrek, both of which were Tony nominated for score that year. A Little More Homework is one of my favorite recent theatre songs. I'm glad I saw the show.
