Will this ever get released? Has been in the can for ages. Is there an issue with the Weill estate? With the truncated Martin recording the only legit one out there, would be great if they were finally able to release this. Also, wasn't a complete Anyone Can Whistle recorded by them, too? Strange neither has been released after so many years.
If I recall correctly there are quite a few shows that received full recordings by Jay Records that are also sitting on a shelf. And ANYONE CAN WHISTLE is one of them.
A few years ago John Yap told the Cast album group that the cost of doing final editing and mixing would not be offset by sales. He had many of his note-complete "Masterworks Editions" on the market and they were not selling enough to recoup their costs, so he had to put future releases on hold. Adding to his woes,m several record store chains declared bankruptcy and went out of business till owing his distributors a good deal of money.
As much as we would all love to hear these releases they may ultimately only see the light of day as downloads.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

Could they try a Kickstarter campaign for ANYONE CAN WHISTLE??
The sad reason so few of these recordings are made is that too many people are not buying their own copies, setting for illegal downloads of CD-R copies.
MCA has already deleted their CD of the Mary Martin-Kenny Baker recording, so it obviously wasn't selling any great quantity.
