I thought he was getting over that bad habit with NEWSROOM. I found SPORTS NIGHT's imitations of Harvard sophomores topping one another late at night so tedious, I never watched WEST WING.
But I was trying to be fair above and allow that Sorkin may have the basic talent to write a great MOCKINGBIRD. Or even to reinterpret Atticus Finch from an adult p.o.v. (as it appears Lee's sequel may have done). Not even Abraham Lincoln can pass a modern, progressive litmus test on race.

Just coming in on this... but a 40-year old Scout is a bit too much. After spending a ton on Network, gonna pass on this.

Same here. The Jeff Daniels part does not bother me. Yes he’s older but I can still see it. But the charm and intelligence of the book IS the children. Talking about what you learned is not the same thing as seeing it unfold. This is my favorite book and if you would have told me I wouldn’t be gong to a stage version of this, I would have said you were crazy. But if you can’t respect children enough or find them interesting enough, you are the wrong person to bring this to life. Not going either.

The book is narrated by grown-up Scout, remembering how she saw life through the eyes of a 10-year-old. So, young Scout is not able to fully comprehend everything the reader can see, which the older Scout recognizes.
I suppose it all depends which specific themes Sorkin is seeking to highlight as to whether or not the children as adults thing works out...

Yes the book is narrated at times by adult Scout. But the children’s scenes are played like live action. The well respected film also uses the narrator as a framework but again the kids scenes are played like it’s happening live. The narrator makes commentary from time to time reminding us this happened long ago. But she is not the focus of the scenes nor should she be.
I’m not suggesting there shouldn’t be narrator Scout. I would be disappointed if there wasn’t one. But to not see this through the eyes of a child does not work fior me. Child Scout is critical to my love for TKAM and I have no interest in seeing it only as a memory. None.

When i went to get my LincTix, they were selling through July? I'd suspect he'd be there through the summer.

I was looking at tickets for my mother and I for April, about 6 months after they start performances, but want to be sure he'll be there, as he's the reason I'm taking her. Thanks in advance!"
He told me he was in for a year. He's takes his work so seriously, has a terrific work ethic..
