Yeah just saw it. I was hoping for the BAT, but as long as they have a confirmed theater, it's all good.
I had to figure out what BAT was.
^ same here. Abbreviations give me a headache.
What is the BAT?
^Brooks Atkinson Theatre, I think.
Beacause you're so busy you couldn't type either the words BROOKS or ATKINSON.

I heard from a very reliable source yesterday that CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF would be taking the Rodgers.
Can a revival be a BWay revival if it's really a tour?
Ah okay, thank you!
Curtain-how is the show having tour stops prior to its Broadway engagement any different from a show opening out of town? I'd say it's a revival.
^Not to mention that fact that it's happened many, many times in the past.

CurtainPullDowner, with or without the tour, Jekyll and Hyde is a Broadway revival. It ran on Broadway from 1997-2001.

Good reasons but I think an out of town try-out is different than a 20 city tour.
Was the FIDDLER tour the first to return to BWay and (I think) be up for a revival TONY?
Jekyll also started as a tour as well prior to Broadway... They just managed to change directors and designers on the way to Broadway. I think the tour-before-Broadway is more of a "homage" to the original run, as oppposed to have launched on Broadway for a limited engagement then tour.

I've got my tickets for next month when the tour starts in La Mirada.

Jekyll and Hyde going into Richard Rodgers. Rodgers says he's truly satisfied for the first time but wishes he had a little privacy.
The 1994 Hello Dolly tour went to Broadway and won the Tony for Best Revival in 1996. Fiddler did the same in 1990/91.

Whether Jekyll and Hyde is a tour, a revival and/or a tryout, the bottom line is that the show isn't very good. While I don't think it falls into the 'ghastly' category, I do feel that it is sub-mediocre.
Some, if not many, people will disagree, but I feel this opinion has to be put out there.
^Apart from Broadway I'd vouch to say the majority would disagree. This show is constantly produced around the globe.
Also, new director = new vision = new show!
'I think the tour before Broadway is more of an "homage" to the original run".
Even you can't believe that.
They are trying to gain momentum and MONEY, so if the show bombs again, they will have gathered some $ on the road.
It ain't no "homage" to anything but the green.
Thanks for the info mistermatt, that's what I thought.
I wish Boston can get something like this instead of the umpteenth visit from Wicked, Mamma Mia and Jersey Boys (and I like Jersey Boys). I know they're the big sellers, but, still, it'd be nice.
