I was wondering how they would stage it here in NY. Saw the original with Gregory Hines

Anyone seen this? The guy playing Jelly Roll Morton used to teach me at a jazz camp. Extremely talented musician but I never thought of him as an actor

People thought the same thing of Hinton Battle. Until he won an acting TONY!

Here's an interesting article from the Washington Post about Mark Meadows who is playing Jelly and his path from musician to the stage. https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/theater_dance/mark-g-meadowss-first-theater-jam/2016/08/05/ed03414c-5805-11e6-9aee-8075993d73a2_story.html

Oh, wow….another all time favorite of mine.
Gregory Hines and Savion Glover….did it get any better than that?
A simply fantastic show on so many levels.

Saw it Sunday night. Terrific staging and great performances with mulitple stages scattered throughout the theater. Highly entertaining. However, like the original production, which I also saw, Jelly was a bastard and the fact he ends up in Hell does not really make you care much about him
Still wort every penny and probably better than Shuffle Along
I saw Jelly's Last Jam at Signature last weekend and I am still in awe. I knew nothing of the musical before seeing it and only knew one of Jelly's songs. I was blow away by the first act---probably one of the most compelling, exciting, visually stunning piece of theatre I have seen anywhere. Every single cast member is amazing and the tap dancing is other-worldly. I would highly encourage seeing it.
They have posted some pull quotes from the (mostly positive) reviews of the show on the website and have some interesting videos as well.

Is there any chance this will come to New York at some point?

Finally saw the show tonight. Unreal. I mean it's just out of this world good. I'll post more tomorrow
I saw it over the weekend, and although I thought the performances were uniformly good, I just didn't think the show itself was very good. That being said, I was quite fascinated by the piano playing of Mark Meadows. I really liked the set design and tap choreography as well.
