Posted: 12/20/06 at 11:40pmI did prefer her performance on Today - more restrained. Less can be more with that song as shown in the movie. In any case, I heart Jennifer.

are you serious? i thought she nailed that song. she showed such control over her voice... yet with so much power.
it amazes me what some people say on here sometimes... they dont like this performance, but then earlier today i heard people saying they loved kristin chenoweth on the view...
so i watched it... and my mouth was wide open in shock of how horrible that was.
i guess everyone has different taste.
anyhow... i thought she was flawless. and her interview was charming

Frenchie's a little TOO large.
Roper is on Leno now and he said he thinks Dreamgirls will win for Best Picture.

Posted: 12/21/06 at 12:30amWhat a shattering performance of "One Night Only". NOW I understand why Jennifer Holiday is running around trying to get her moment back in the spotlight. This young woman can and very soon will eclipse Holliday and, if she's not a wingnut (and she seems very level-headed) will have a much longer and much more successful career.

Posted: 12/21/06 at 1:46amThe interview was great, but why was she screaming right off the bat? She should have started softer and built it up and toned down some of that screaming.

It was not between Frenchie and Jennifer.
Her performance in the mini Dreamgirls tour was one of the worst I've seen on stage. She simply cannot act, or, seriously sell a song in character. Surely the Dreamgirls film producers saw a video of this. No way she was ever seriously considered.

Posted: 12/21/06 at 12:43pmI liked her performance of ONO. She seems to vary her interpretation of it with each performance. I also think that she's really starting to grew more comfortable pitching the product and no longer feels overshadowed by Jennifer Holliday and her costars in the movie. No doubt her handlers will polish her up a bit more but I'm hoping that she doesn't go superdiva on us anytime soon. Fat chance though. The industry and her fans could start making ridiculous demands of her forcing to retreat to "divadom" just to cope. We've seen it before. Everybody loves a winner the saying goes.

Posted: 12/21/06 at 12:49pmWhy is she not singing 'I Am Telling You' on these shows? Are they trying to save it for the film?

I thought Jennifer did an awesome job.
I'm glad she's come a long way from AMERICAN IDOL and Simon's harsh critques. I loved her interview. Very cute.

She does a wonderful version in the film, but I didnt care for the screaming on Leno. She is not a strong enough interpreter of music to "improv" her rendition...ala Sarah Vaughan.
Her instrument is tremendous, however.
And her interview was quite charming.

Frenchie's a little TOO large.
As much as I want to launch into a rant about the comment, I will hold my tounge.
It didn't sound like she was screaming to me, and I normally have a sensitive ear to things like that. I almost cried during SWIWS.
I do however think she should have started off ALOT softer and built into the belting stuff.
