"Oh my god. RENT is like Latin. A dead language. I can't believe that this thread goes on."
you do realize your not stopping the conversation by posting, right? If you don't care about the show, don't post in this thread! whats the big deal? obviosuly RENT is not "dead" or we wouldnt still be talking....

I like how everyone keeps saying this. I'm not a playwright. I'm not a songwriter or a singer or an actress. I try to be an author, and I'm working on it, but while I continue to try to create something new, I do keep seeing things that already exist. Including many new things.
Can you imagine if everyone who wanted to see Rent created something new instead? Everyone would have more crappy stuff to complain about (with the few random good things thrown in!)!

ok im not even gonna bother to ask why its "not worth caring about anymore" but obviosuly a lot of people do still care, and you must care somewhat or you wouldnt be involved in this topic.
What makes you think fans of the show need to "create something new"? maybe not all of us WANT to write new musicals. And plenty of us see new stuff too, so I don;t see why your so bitter?

That's the spirit, hon! I'm sure Jonathan Larson would be proud to hear that he was so inspiring. "There's no point in trying, it'll only be crap anyway." That's exactly what he was trying to work against.

Actually, I consider myself to be very inspired by Jonathan Larson. Maybe not to create, but in plenty of other ways.
Everybody can create all they want. No one should let the fact that someone might think what they do is crap stop them (and all I was saying is that someone is going to think it's crap and complain about it, such is human nature). Half of the most amazing things around would never have made it to completion if that were the case.

Ok, I saw all the Jeremy-bashing, and I had to speak my peace.
I had the pleasure of doing a reading with Jeremy (and Yassmin Alers and Wilson Heredia) of a new rock musical last month, and he was PHENOMENAL. Whatta pro! Great actor, great singer, all around great guy to work with.
There.
I'm gettin off my soapbox now.
