It seems that the people in rent with the REAL talent (Mark Richard Ford is an acception) are either understudies or ensemble members. Ex: Karmine Alers, Joshua Kobak, Dominique Roy, Catrice Joseph, Sebastian, Kendra Kassebaum, etc.
It's sad these people aren't in bigger roles, since the current cast is pretty crappy, but the producers are cheap, so what can you do.

Posted: 11/15/03 at 8:55pmI'm auditioning for the RENT national tour next month:P Anyway back to topic, I saw Rent for the 4th time last July and the guy who was playing Roger was the most horrible Roger I had ever seen. Maybe it was the same guy your all reffering to.

Posted: 11/16/03 at 3:22pmActually, last July (as in 2002), Manley Pope was on vocal rest, and the part was being covered by Sebastian Arcelus and Chad Richardson. Sebastian had the first half (until mid July) and Chad had the second.

Actually last July, I saw RENT and yes, I had the pleasure of giving Manley Pope a big strong hug and shake Matt Caplan's hand.
P.S. Chad Richardson is hott. Bill has spoken.

Hmm. Well, I know that he missed a good junk of July at least!
And I agree about Chad as well.

Yeah, but when there are, about 90% of the time it's somebody who used to be in another Rent company anyway.

Posted: 11/16/03 at 4:51pmYeah, what "changes"? The same 20 people have been a part of the production for practically, it's entire run. As an aside, upon viewing her pic, it's a huge insult to Sarah Jessica Parker, to be called a dead ringer for Fadale. Pushing 40, Parker looks much younger, fresher and thinner.

Manley Pope wasn't in School of Rock, Adam Pascal was.
As for not having twenty-somethings, it's true, but not entirely. There are still quite a few in their early-mid twenties in the show. It's just that some of them got cast in their teens and thus are that young and STILL have been in the show for years!

whats wrong with using people who have already been in the show?
And I have to point out that Daphne was nowhere near middle age when she was in RENT..she was 26 or 27 when the show opened, and none of the cast now is middle aged either...Im sorry you dont think its "fresh" but i always feel it is when i see it.
What does it mean to "pull a les miz"? i need to lear nthis ling oyou guys use around here LOL forst "twhm" and how this....

Daphne was 26 or 27????? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
She SAID she was
pull a "les miz".. total overhaul.. bring in a new cast (Les Miz used the tour) to play on Bway for a few weeks while they totally overhaul and brush up the show with a new cast.
Of course every show feels fresh to a renthead.. half teh cast could take a napa nd they still love it and they LOVE it and think it SOOO great when teh cast is up there goofing off and fooling around out of character!

Ummm Daphne was NOT in her twenties when RENT opened. And it doesn't matter if she was 'middle-aged' (which she wasn't) when she was in the tour, because she still delivered an amazing performance, as she did in '96. And SLOW DOWN when you're typing-everything's all over the place.

Princess, it feels like you challenge everything anyone says about this show that doesn't fit your ideas of it. I'm quite the follower myself, but you have to admit that nothing about it is perfect, no matter how much you love it. And Broadwayguy, for the amount you use the term "these Rentheads", you certainly are on top of things yourself!
Daphne was certainly not in her twenties. And she wasn't the only Mimi far from mid-twenties. It makes me laugh when people think that Daphne should come back. On the opposite end, there are the people who were cast when they were 19 and are now 24 and haven't done anything else.

Posted: 11/16/03 at 7:29pmAnd another thing, not only Daphne, but the past few recent people who played Mimi were nowhere near '26 or 27'. Krystal revealed that she was 27 at the Cutting Room, which she might be, but she was drunk, so who knows.

Was this recently? If so, that's understandable, b/c the current cast isn't that great.
