Mimichicawhatever is obviously a renthead and had a biast opinion of the show.

Even though I hate the word, I admit that I fall under that category as well. It's just generally assumed that people who see the show a lot and follow it closely will defend it blindly. Which is far from the case for myself and many people I know who still follow the show and enjoy it. Not all "Rentheads" (that really makes me cringe) defend the show to the bone or have a biased opinion of it. Nor do they like everything, flip out over everything or any of other traits that certain Rentheads seem to have.

Yes, Krystal IS 27.
Antonique Smith was a Mimi understudy and she is pretty young.

When you have cast members up there behaving the way much of the RENT cast does, they are A.) Unprofessional and B.) Bored as hell with the show and their jobs.

Those cast members have been their FOREVER.. hell.. and original cast member JUST came back.. Do they HAVE a casting director anymore?? Hello Telsey?? You there?? Or does the company manager just open a littel black book of actor names from past cast membersand randomly point to one ???

Ooh, well the cast started to go downhill around the time when Frenchie arrived. She's not the reason it hasn't been doing well latley, though. At least not entirely.

since Frenchie arrived????? Frenchie was a HUGE improvement over Aisha de Haas as the SOLoist.

rent casting has gone down a LOT.

They went from Sherei Rene Scott as Maureen to having Cristina fadal as maureen. teh truely spectular RENT performers are mostly long gone, but you run into one occasionally on the stage there, but no where near as often as you did

From what I've heard, Sherie Rene Scott was a trainwreck as Maureen. There are examples, but that's not one! Also, Aisha only the soloist for a month or two this year. More like they went from Maia Wilson as the soloist to Frenchie. Because Maia can't really be beat.

I still think a lot of the cast now are improvements over who they replaced. Matt Caplan over Trey Ellett, Mark Richard Ford over Mark Leroy Jackson, Kenna Ramsey over both Merle Danridge and Myiia Watson Davis, just to name a few. Yeah, they recycle way too much, but at least they recycle mostly good people (key word "mostly"). The analogy I made is that the cast members use Rent the way I use my part-time job. I never plan to go back, but then I'm broke and need a job and they'll take me back and pay me, so I go.

Most people DON'T like Frenchie, and that time was also when Karmine left, and when Krystal was brought in, and let's face it, she doesn't make ANY Roger look happy onstage. Not to mention she's no actress herself. Jai Rodriguez is supposedly coming back in Dec. since he's finishing up shooting episodes of Queer Eye, which might give the show a kick because since he's a celebrity now, it'll boost ticket sales, AND he's actually really good.

Honestly tho, how can everyone be 100% posotive of how old Daphne is/was? I dunno, i still think she looks like she can be in her late 20's, I just think shes so fantastic looking.
It doesnt really matter either way, I was just wondering how everyone can scoff at the idea that she was 27 in 1996. Oh well.

I may be biased, but isnt everyone? we all have shows we love and defend. I don't think I challenge *everything*, I just like expressing my opinioon where RENT is concerned. I just hate how very underrated this amazing show has become and I dont know why theres all the backlash against its popularity.
I dont follow it COMPLETELY blind, however. At one point, Cristina was most definetely bored up there. But not anymore. I don't see any bored faces at the moment. I just don't think any current hast member is really horrible, and I have a lot of respect for asnyone who gets on that stage. But people have complained about the casting since the OBC left, so what can ya do?

I have actually seen Krystal with six Rogers (which is crazy, I know) and I love her with every single one. To me, she really manages to bring out the good in a lot of Rogers. She always has good chemistry with whoever she is working with as well. So I think Krystal, as has been said since she started on Broadway, is certainly an opinion thing.

Because people online back in '96 remember a certain person coming across Daphne's senior high school yearbook and sharing it with many. I'm not busting her on her age, but let's just say that she wasn't the age she claimed to be.

I did not know she was supposed to be that young! I was thinking 21 or 22. I saw Krystal with Kevin Spencer on tour. I enjoyed Krystal. People say she does not portray the character very well. After the show at the stage door, I asked for her autograph and she was shaking, eating soup, and it a scarf (in March). Obviously she did the ending very well. Kevin did not blow me away...but my mom did get me out of school to go and meet the male cast at our mall when they were in town. I won a 50 dollar gift certificate for the mall! I also showed Kevin where the restrooms were! lol I loved Justin Rodriguez's Angel. I also like Sara Shatz as Maureen. My mom loves RENT! She never gets me tickets and when I told her RENT was coming she got tickets right away!

If you're going to "bust on" Daphne's age, than you might as well play fair and go for certain other B'way *favorites* (who shall remain nameless), who lie just as, if not more, shamelessly. Look, it's the nature of the entertainment business. If you believe that Zeta Jones is really in her early 30's than Daphne might as well have been 12 when she originated Mimi. Meanwhile, anyone who is "sharing a high school yearbook" liberally is just bitter and jealous. Those are the same pigs that sell things/stories like that to places like "Hard copy". Not that Broadway actors need to worry about such *exposure* but it's the same level of nastiness.

Ok i had never heard of that yearbook buisness, does anyone know who actually did that? And unless people have seen said yearbook in person, it still could be made up. I agree whoever did such a thing is jealous because Daphne is still HOT at whatever age she is =D I think Catherine looks hot too, who cares how old they are? oh well

I think you are assuming a little too much here! LOL! The girl who came across the yearbook was nothing more than a sophomore (if I remember correctly) who went to the same school and had access to the old yearbooks. They were just excited they found her in it, so I don't think there was some jealous motive there. Incidentally though, it did clue people in on her real age. Updated On: 11/16/03 at 09:55 PM

That's assuming this little girl knew Daphne was sensitive about her age, or even stopped to think people would take notice of the date and care about her age. And looking through old yearbooks might seem unnecessary to you, but to some stary-eyed youngster it was probably exciting to get to see her picture, etc. Probably nothing more than that.....

I can't say how I know, but just take my word for it. I never heard about this yearbook incident...that's pretty funny though, if you ask me. Poor Daffy.

I think some of the girls who played Mimi that were older than nineteen still did look that young. Way back in December I thought Karmine did, but she keeps changing the way she looks, so I probably wouldn't think that now.
