so if he was "just pushing himself through" when he went to Bangkok and the Golden Globes, why the **** couldn't he "push himself through" to finish his run in the show?
BECAUSE HE'S A FAKER.
Maybe it was also the Mercury poisoning that caused him to act like a deranged maniac in Las Vegas a few months ago.
Okay, all joking aside, to Namo's point. Seriously now, I was in the hospital last week and have been in agonizing pain since I left (well, shortly thereafter...as soon as the hospital-strength drugs wore off). Nevertheless, I have attempted to lead a "normal" life. I even went to the theatre the other day, figuring "It's been a week since the surgery. The doctors SAID I'd be back to normal in a few days; therefore, I AM." But was I? NO. And I paid for it the next day...and ever since.
It is in most people's nature to try to "ignore" pain or assume because we aren't feeling as horrible as we were the day before that "all systems are go." I know that push myself all the time. It's what we think everyone expects of us, so we push ourselves, but that doesn't mean we're in good health.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
I've lost so much respect for Piven as an actor. His story doesn't add up at all and he's being childish.
Even if Piven's illness is real, and it very well could be, he didn't seem to be keeping the production informed of the situation until the last possible moment. You're sick, fine. But doesn't his employer who is banking on your face to sell seats deserve to be kept up on your limits and concerns about continuing the show?
Namo said the magic words: "Jeremy Piven" and "testosterone."
That's what this is all about: He's sexy and either he's lying (which is sexy) or he has a mysterious disease (which is even sexier).
Personally, I think he's lying, because the doctor who diagnosed him (whose website I lined in the first thread about this) is a well-known and laughed-at, notorious quack.
But I think at this point Piven BELIEVES he has a rare and dangerous illness. And that only makes me like him even more.
Exactly bobby, and if he knew about it 5 MONTHS AGO, why didn't he inform the producers then?
oh, whats that? cause he's full of ****? oh, right.
I hope he gets kicked in the twat by the judge.
So sitting at a table requires as much energy as performing a lead role in a Broadway play?

Yes, Miss P, thank you for the concrete example of the point I was trying to make.
Let's face it, the decks are totally stacked against Piven here, and perhaps they deserve to be. But people are just dismissing every possibility because they refuse to see that there is a chance that what he is saying is true. "Well, he shouldn't have gone there, and he shouldn't have done that...." Maybe not, but those points alone don't mean he doesn't have mercury poisoning.
I wonder why the producers didn't have him checked out by their doctor? I guess they were just willing to let Raul, the next Saint Genesius, insinuate a conviction in the public's imagination.
Unless the production knows the real reason behind Piven's exit and isn't talking to anyone but Equity about it.
Didn't Raul mention "demons" of some sort?
Broadway Legend Joined: 7/22/03
Well, Raul would know a thing or two about demons, wouldn't he? He's eventually going to be canonized, you know.
Let's see. Raul survived TABOO. That's one miracle. Only 2 more to go.
I can think of at least one other but I'm attempting to have an evening free of deleted posts.
Good for you, BB! Restraint is such a lost art nowadays!
Actually, I think all this publicity will only help Piven's career in the long run. I just hope that it really isn't that he has a truly serious illness that he's trying to conceal...I mean, for his own sake.
Or a serious addiction.
High levels of cocaine will cause many of the same symptoms as mercury posioning
Broadway Legend Joined: 7/22/03
So if it turns out that it's a major addiction are St. Raul and his BBC and his merry minions of pilers on all going to become a bunch of Nancy Reagan's?
This just keeps getting better and better...
you don't have to be nancy reagan to know you shouldn't do cocaine.
And if IT IS ADDICTION an dnot mercury posioning i hope the producers take him for MILLIONS.
An addiction is an illness.
when did weak will become an illness?
When the president choked on a pretzel?
All the back and forth aside...
WHERE IS HIS PRESS AGENT!
Seriously! I am astonished that someone in the entertainment industry thinks its advisable for Piven to continue to talk AND talk AND talk.
That being said, it is kind of fun to watch...
But if it turns out to be another illness and he was only pretending to have mercury poisoning, think of the injustice that will be done to all REAL mercury-poisoning sufferers out there.
All 2 of them.
Maybe the Entourage producers are encouraging Piven to talk as free publicity for their show.
When I first heard that Piven had left STP, I thought his story was odd, but possible. But that trip to Bangkok had the same impact on his credibility for me that OJ's low speed chase in that white Ford Bronco had.
I definitely expect a stint in rehab to be a chapter in this saga.
