Sorry, I was in the middle of Drowsy.......
Yeah it was this afternoon. No one played Pesci i think because this all happened after all his lines. If someone took over for Michael he must've only been in ensemble the rest of the time. He did really great!! He had to transfer quickly. Even though I hate that John is feeling bad I would have to say that I am glad I was there for something like that. It is unique to me!

I hope that John gets better soon.
almostxfamous....see you there on Saturday, we're seeing it then too. Hopefully with the full cast.
I hope that you see the full cast too, but don't count on it.
Saw a performance of The Color Purple where La Chnaze's understudy replaced her after intermission. You could tell something was wrong in the final song of the first act. La Chanze's voice was totally shot.
the only time that happened to me in 30 years of seeing shows was off broadway in "the Destiny of Me" John Cameron Mitchell did the first act and when the show came back from intermission, it was announced that the understudy was finishing the show. It was a bit jarring. Their performances and appearances were totally different.

I have no doubt he takes enormous amounts of comfort in that fact.
Thank God for the Thezpiss Blahhhhg, a production of a certifiable mincing prisspot persnickity Broadway attendance monitor-slash-Ann Coulter lover.
Everyone should remember that Harveyt Fierstein played all of his performances of HAIRSPRAY, other than leaving at intermission one night.
Go Harvey, and all those actors who give their all eight times per week.
Thanks for showing up for work, and having the talent and ability to play all of your shows!

So are you saying that actors should go on even when they are sick?

Odd, he seems to be contradicting himself. That can't be. Junior High Debate Teams don't allow contradictions.
But he supports JLY while criticizing those who don't have the "talent and ability" to make all their shows. Like JLY apparently.
ok Chanticleer148 tell me this say you were at jersey boys today when this happened, would you as someone seeing the show want to see a actor fight get though the show and maybe have to leave the show for a while to get better or would you want to see a understudy who is more then able to do take over and do the rest of the show do it?
Stating a fact: "don't count on seeing the whole cast" is not a contradiction. It is a fact. Facts are something that escape Finding Namo on a daily basis.
As I have repeatedly stated, immediately starting in with the name calling is like Hezbollah claiming that they are peace lovers. LOL. Neither position has the credibility base of CNN, or the integrity of Broadway performers with irregular attendance patterns.
FindingNamo: You are also the mistress of innuendo and the "Queen" of invective. Draw your own conclusions about JYL. I support him and his obvious talent.
JBL: I am thrilled that Michael did the show again tonight. He is apparently, according to his own blog, on for Sunday as well. The paying public can make their own determinations about the odds of seeing JLY in this role at this point.

I meant to thank everyone, especially Finding Namo (LOL) for all the pulicity for Thespis Journal. Traffic has increased significantly with all the promotion that you have been giving us.
We find that when we show up for work on the days we are supposed to show up, good things happen for all of us.
And, God Bless The New York Post, and Broadway World.com

Chanticleer148: I think your assuming to much here about John not being in the show as much. He could just need a few more days of vocal rest. So unless you know anyone who works with the show you shouldn't be saying anything about how often John is going to be in all.

I have given you no "pulicity" Chant-ick. You've done all the self-promotion your... well, it's self-evident.
Finding your identity as a TROLL of great distinction:
The courtesy of the publicity is obvious. We appreciate it.
And to think of all your commentary, advice, and euphoric musings are punctuated by the saying, "SHUT UP"
Not to disturb your obviously overactive fantasy world, but did you know you can lose your job for saying this in the real world?

I hope Jly is better soon.
I heard that he had a bad sinus infection. I had one this year and it was horrendous. I had to do a voice over and I gave up the assignment as I sounded like "The Nanny" (Not that there is anything wrong with that) But, it would not fit the reel I was doing.
Two weeks later, I was fine.
Give JLY some slack. It is a very demanding role and he is a very dedicated guy.

Feel better JLY!!

That kind of thing only happened to me once at Wicked two years ago. Kristin performed extremely well and seemed perfect, but I noticed something strange when she didn't do her final "I hope you're happy" at the end of Defying Gravity. They had an announcement that LBB would be doing act 2 for her. Poor Kristin
This is what happens when you're sick but you perform anyway.
I know, I know. The audience deserves it, for these people to put themselves through hell because they're paying customers!!
I hope he gets well soon.
Chanti--Why are you at it again?? He was obviously sick. It doesn't have anything to do with talent.
I agree with you-he is obviously having great difficulty and is not well. I am very sorry to hear that.
JLY is very talented, sounds great every time that I have heard him on the CD or on TV, and is obviously wonderful in the role.
I am sorry that that there have been so many problems because he and the show are great.

When I saw The Producers, Cady Huffman and Eric Gunhus both left during intermission.
I really hope John gets better soon. I'm seeing the show on Saturday. And I'm already missing LaChanze in The Color Purple. I'd be so bummed if I missed John.

that is really too bad for JLY
it must be really hard to sing all that stuff, AND be sick...hard enough to sing as it is
anyway, hope he feels better
With GREAT respect for harvey - you just can't compare roles VOCALLY. While Edna might be a touch role physically because of the added weight, getting ready time, etc - vocally demanding it's not. John's absenses are directly related to his voice and infections. It has little or nothing to do with the vocal "stress" of the role. When you're sick - you're sick. And I can only imagine how frustrating it is for John to NOT be able to do the show. Sincerely - given the choice between being home or doing something you love so much - which would you choose.
