re: Jessica Lee Goldyn: ACL Revival's Final Cassie?

Thanks!! I do believe Heather will be their for the final performance. Too bad for J. Elaine, I hope it's nothing serious. The Connie's in this show have some bad luck.

I can't confirm or deny anything, because I don't know for sure what the situation is. What I can say is that Charlotte is not scheduled to perform Friday or Sunday evenings, Nadine is no longer with the show, and Jessica did in fact go on as Cassie tonight for the first time. Was anybody else there? I don't feel comfortable posting a detailed review, but I really thought she was fantastic. I've seen the show several hundred times now so I can't be objective. It's always exciting to see someone go on in a role for the first time, but this really felt like something special. I didn't see the scene leading into the dance, but she sounded good vocally and danced the hell out of the number. I can't and wouldn't dare try to compare her to Charlotte, but the energy was simply incredible and I think the audience felt it. That's no easy dance to nail first time out. I'll be interested to see how it develops as she does it more and more.

i'm really happy to hear that she did well.

i'm tellin ya.. the girl can do no wrong in my eyes.. i'm VERY interested to see what she does next.

so young and the possibilities for her are endless.

is it august 17th yet? i'm sad the show is closing but.. to see her play this role.. it honestly is the perfect way to put a cap a wonderful weekend of theatre

well, she'll clearly have a long future on Broadway with the amount of talent she has.

"With all of this "will Charlotte go back to CHICAGO" talk, don't you think Jessica Lee Goldyn would make an amazing Roxie?"

She was offered Velma. And it hasn't been confirmed that she will be Charlotte's cover until the last week when she takes over the role of Cassie. She didn't replace her on Sunday evening.

Contracts are so interesting. You never have the role until you've got one signed and even then, only for what's specifically on the paper. On the other hand you can force what's on the paper. Then again ...

I believe Kimberly may still be the official cover for a couple of weeks, but they're having Jessica play the role 3 times a week for the next couple of weeks to prepare her for the last week of the run. If that's the case and Charlotte has 2 official out-dates that aren't the ones Jessica's playing and Kimberly has something in writing, then Charlotte's only doing 3 shows a week.

I don't know that that's the case, but it could be. Anybody know?

Interesting about Velma. Shows what a good actress Jessica is. She could play the heck out of Velma, but type-wise she's a natural Roxie. She plays a fantastic Val, arguably the best, but type-wise she's more Cassie. This girl can act.

I would also venture a guess that unless you knew Jessica's age, you wouldn't give a second thought about it when watching her Cassie. Acting is kinda cool that way.

No they're not. Not yet, anyway. Jessica plays Cassie Friday nights & Kimberly covers Sunday nights. At least so far. Charlotte plays the rest, though I believe she does have some personal days coming up. Don't know how they will be covering them.

Sigh.. ok. here's a part of the email i got from Jess last Monday.

"After Friday I may be going on Fridays and Sundays, but I am contracted to play Cassie the last 8 shows of our run."

Take from that what you will..

Jess in Chicago?=sublime awesomeness.

Tee hee. It seems nobody really knows. If it's not spelled out on paper, management has a lot of wiggle room.

As far as I know, as of last evening, Jess assumed she had a Wed/Wed/Thur schedule, but then, stuff can change.

Anybody seeing Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday?

I havent updated the lists on the site yet, but this week's Playbills for the show indicate the departure of Heather, Jason Sands (who joins CHICAGO) and E Clayton. It lists Lyndy as Judy for this week and Kurt Domoney as Don. Doesn't mean it will turn out that way but that's what the Playbills will say.
