I was there too. I am delighted that I was.
I don't know that I can add too much about the show itself that hasn't already been said. But I do want to mention the wonderful dynamic tonight, of a cast with tons of talent and tons of heart (tonight as every night) putting an incredible amount of energy into performing for an audience that seemed thoroughly invested in showing love and support right back.
The audience was extremely loud, but incredibly well-behaved: there was long applause accompanied by energetic screaming at the end of songs and at other appropriate moments, but when someone on stage was talking or acting, the audience seemed perfectly attentive, just drinking everything in.
There were moments when John and the others seemed particularly aware of the significance of this night, but everyone was remarkably professional to the end, letting the extra emotion add to the performance rather than distract from it.
For me, the highlights tonight were You Can Be As Loud..., I Wish I Could Go Back to College and For Now. The first because John -- who has always made the puppet sex utterly compelling -- was putting unimaginable energy into his movements, and the latter two because they are songs that really speak to me, and that seemed to have particular meaning for those on stage tonight too.
In other words, at different times this evening, John made things both incredibly sexy and unspeakably moving.
I saw most of the creative team at the theatre tonight, as well as many other people whom I recognize from the theatre community. I am delighted and touched to have been in the theatre with them to share this evening.

Being there at John's final performance tonight was probably the most enjoyable theater experience I've ever had. The energy that came from the entire audience tonight was so unbelievable I can't even put it into words and just being able to see John end an incredible run on Broadway with such humor and appreciation for his fans was something that doesn't come about very often. There should really be more people in the world today like John Tartaglia. The earth would be a much better place!

True. I guess that candlelight vigil did cross lines...
We were there as well last night.
Had a great time, despite the obvious technical difficulties. (The media screens were pretty broken, and one of Rick's boxes didn't sing). The audience rocked, in a very supportive, respectful manner.
Glad everyone had a great time
Johnny mentioned at his cabaret show at Joe's pub that he was off to Florida to Disney World the day after his last show at Ave Q! Hope he has a sunny fun time there!
For all you die hard JohnT fans, his next show at Joe's pub is on Feb. 4. I hope he keeps on performing there, he will continue to do shows there as long as there is "interest"...
I was there as well and was talking with him after the show. he is such a sweetheart!! So genuine and nice (and cute).
Anyway I was talking with him and asked him if he had anything in the works. And he said not to worry he would be back on broadway soon he has a few things in the works. YAY.
