Agree and Disagree.

Photographing people together isn't a violation of anything. And violation is such a harsh word anyway. The choice in words for a caption are just that, a choice. A caption with a hetero, gay, friends, or whatever the relationship may or may not be is a choice made by whoever is doing the captioning.

It's all speculation anyway as we were not there nor do we know if John said "Hey! take a picture of me and my boyfriend" or if the photographer just went up to them and asked a group to pose.

My point was that just because two people are photographed together does not mean they want the nature of their relationship, if any, to be revealed publically.

eslgr8, I agree with you completely. The tasteless comments made on these forums are really disappointing. It seems, too, that probably most are made by young gay men which is even more disappointing. John and Michael have been together for a while and have been open about their relationship as a couple in the city for anyone who happens to be around the theatre world on a regular basis. Why everyone makes such a big deal about it, I'll never understand. The speculation about their sex lives is just so immature but then, I guess you can't teach someone class.

So if John's boyfriends name is Michael.... Whose are the initials in John's Bio??? It says "ILYKH"... We all figured ILY meant "I Love You" and the initials were those of his significant other... hmmmmmmm.....

I'm always tickled to see partnered gay men & women identified as such in Broadway group photos (especially when they are affectionate with each other) There's Marc & Scott for sure, but also Denis O'Hare and his partner Hugo, Brad Oscar and his partner David, and Cheery Jones and her partner. John's been a great role model for gay kids everywhere, and his being 'out...with partner' only adds to his considerable appeal.

In an ideal world, it wouldn't be such a big deal, but it's nice to see Broadway setting normal standards that the rest of America should aspire to.

The "mystery initials" are actually those of John's ex-boyfriend of several years, with whom he broke up shortly before the Tony's.
